I took Dr. Garrett for Technical Writing. It was a small class 11 people and we did a lot of group projects. He went off topic almost every day and we spent half the class not learning anything. However, he is very easy to talk to and will help whenever you need it.

Firstly, LS100 is a pointless class, but it is an easy A. Dr. Garrett makes this class a bit more bearable by at least offering some interesting discussion. This class also makes me want to have him for programming in the near future as well! He's an interesting guy.

Not a very good teacher. He is so advanced in programming that he doesn't know how to help those of us who are beginners. He pretty much expects you to know as much as he does about programming. He doesn't go into great detail about much. If your are going to take him, you definitely want to know some programming.

To pass his class you must be pretty good at writing code. and working on team projects.These projects are complex.They are usually games like poker, minesweeper, battleship, etc. Criticisms I have are:unorganized,doesn't teach from a lesson,and spends little time building a foundation in java. He trows you in the water, and sees if you can swim.

Dr. Garret is a really nice guy and was very helpful answering questions, BUT the LS 100 class was POINTLESS! We talked about nothing useful most of the time, and we didn't use a textbook. The grade is based on attendance, so you can't miss more than two days! It was an easy A!

Easy A, although Dr. Garrett CAN get annoying with his random rambling about whatever comes to mind. Politics are a favorite of his. He didn't really use the textbook, but the lessons were pretty self-explanitory anyway. The only thing to worry about would be his projects.

Dr. Garrett's class was very very very good. He's a great teacher and will help you any way he can. Also, we just had a good time in class. He's one of those teachers that is really down to earth. Any class with Dr. Garrett is highly recommended!

The class is hard but fun. Only serious programmers need apply. If you want to be an excellent programmer, take Mr. (soon to be Dr.) Garrett. I already knew this was going to be true when my 230 and 231 instructors both always said to ask him when we came across something the two teachers didn't know. He's a freakin' genious!

Aaron Garrett is one of my favorite(if not the favorite) teachers I've ever had. Yes, he does like giving lots of assignments for CS 232 but he explains why he is doing it. He tries to make sure you understand what you are doing. Highly recommended.
