Do Not take this class. Out of all my spanish literature classes he picked favorites, was not open to others opinions since he would not agree with anything other than his views. I am pretty liberal and I still found him to be biased and he also didnt care too much about your grade.

Abelardo is not nearly as bad as these ratings make him out to be. He tries really hard to make the students understand what he's teaching, the exams are fair, the essays are fairly graded, and he's makes class interesting.

REALLY arrogant and close-minded. I got a good grade in his class but only because I really worked for it despite his every attempt to make people get bad grades. He seems like he cares for his students, but it's all fake, he doesn't. His grading is pretty subjective, so make sure he likes you, even if you don't like him back.

Take him! He is the funniest, best professor. He is very helpful and tries hard to make the class interesting. However, the class is very hard, a lot of work, a lot of reading, and a lot of writing. It's worth it because you learn a lot, but you also have to work extremely hard.

He does try to include a variety of topics within the class, and not limit it simply to the readings. He does not have double standards based upon the level of your spanish, but it is a literature class and you are expected to write papers comparable to what you would in an english lit class.

I love him. He's such a cute man. He does speak quickly... however, you'll get used to it. He grades fairly and his midterm was not too difficult. He gave a sheet that explained every section of the exam- so study and you'll do well. I would recommend him, he was funny and helpful! :)

Hernando is easy if youre a native spanish speaker. if its your second language, dont bother taking him because hell give you a low grade based upon grammar and accent. he is also very strict and quite boring.
