He was a great lecturer: very captivating and easy to listen to. He did give very difficult quizzes that had lots of jargon that was tough to understand a lot of the time. All around a great prof, but hard to do well in this class.

Easily my favorite course I've taken at Queens. Really interesting material, graded fairly, included an element of study quality and how a finding has impacted the field, which I find invaluable to understanding research methodology and separating factual information from pop-science hype. You have to show up to lectures but also, you'll want to.

Dr. Chippindale is funny and engaging, the lectures are extremely interesting with lots of scientific articles to support the material. Gives good feedback and always available outside the classroom if you have any questions. The tests are difficult but not impossible if you attend the lectures and pay attention. Great prof overall!

HORRIBLE!! He talks like you are scientist and have been working for him for years! Doesn't follow a plan just talks about random examples and then tests you on every little detail of them. So confusing and not helpful at all!!

even if you go to every lecture, take meticulous notes, do all the readings and study your butt off, you still won't understand any of his questions. He asks the most detailed questions with scientific language that makes it so hard tunderstand the questions let alone pick the right answer. I sent him an email asking for help and he was no help.

Dr. Chippindale is undoubtedly a devoted researcher, and he loves the material he teaches. The problem is, as a first year student, it's very hard to understand his lectures' contents because he uses language/terms that are unfamiliar to most. He teaches as if we are all part of his research team, and frankly, it was hard for me to engage or learn.

Teaches course content through case studies, and includes a lot of minutiae on his exam. Re-watch lecture videos, do your readings, attend and mentally be present for lectures and you should do well. Do, in fact, get bogged down in the minutiae in 103.

worst prof i have ever had, completely messed up my GPA and hardest and most unpredictable exam I've ever written. Doesn't even teach course content, only focuses on case studies.

Great prof! Chippindale loves his research and teaching this class and it really shows. He is so enthusiastic and works hard to make this class as fantastic as it is. Definitely not a bird course, but by far one of the most interesting, well-organized, and fun bio classes I've taken.

One of my favorite classes. Chippindale is a really interesting and engaging prof and his lectures are always fun. Unlike most of professors, he genuinely seems to enjoy teaching on top of his research. Very likable person and professor. I recommend that you take this class if you can.

Dr. Chippindale is a class act! So engaged, so enthusiastic, and more than willing to help students. His material is challenging and provoking, but that's what university is about! He loves to discuss his subject with students, and is extremely approachable. Can't recommend highly enough. Take Biol210 - don't be scared!

Interesting material and concepts. And he's very nice and helpful but if he could just make lecture notes with better explanations he wouldn't have to face thousands of kids during his office hours.

Comment:
Really cool teacher.Except I have never studied so hard and consistently received such low marks on tests in my life. Each exam I would come out feeling like I had done extremely well, but thanks to the ridiculous marking scheme he has set up for the written portion, I would do poorly. Material was interesting but this course was a major headache.
