He's a tough professor, but he's very fair and tries to help you earn the best grade possible on papers. If he sees problems in your rough drafts, he points them out and gives you tips on how to improve them. He gives you every opportunity to do well. He has somewhat of a dry personality, but he's friendly and was nothing but nice to me.

Art is the most amazing instructor that I have had at Marshall. He is supportive in academic situations and genuinely cares about his students understanding the material. Prepare to be fully inspired when you take his creative writing class. Just come to class, do the assignments, and be prepared to discuss the text.

Comment:

Took Mr Stringer for Eng 101 and gladly took him for 102. He was very helpful, clear on what he expected, helped you improve rough drafts, if you took his advice(which was correct)you improved your grade, quizes not bad at all, no tests or finals, you write short essays. Love him, all siblings take him too !!!

He grades way too hard and is absolutely no help at all. He is very passively agressively hostile towards people who dont have the same beliefs as he does. I never made above a C on a paper and made straight A's in every english class that I have ever taken. DO NOT TAKE HIM. TAKE ANYONE ELSE!!!

Very hard and not real hepful. Dos grade on class perticipation. If you are an older student or if you have a life other then his class DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! He is incosiderate and no help. He also thinks Freshman are stupid and should be pushed to a point of dropping out of school. TAKE ANYONE ELSE!!!!

This class was Intro. to Poetry. You don't write poetry, but what you do have to do is intrepret alot of poetry. He gives about 10 quizzes during the semester and you have around 10 writing assignments and 2 exams. This class to me was very boring, and he does grade pretty hard. He is nice, however.

He grades rather tough, which is really how it should be. He will grade on the work you produce and to get an A it better be what an A is: excellent. His teaching is somewhat lacking. When he explains a concept or lectures it is, for the most part, clear enough but lacks depth. Overall he was a decent professor but not that great by any means.

Mr. Stringer is an excellent instructor if you want to take him for a writing class. He has changed his grading style so that it is objective as possible. His criticism is very constructive and he's open to your own preferences and styles. The textbook is very good and will help you with your assignments. Love this teacher!

mr. stringer is a hard professor. I have not got any better than a c on papers so far. On the other hand, he teaches you different styles of papers that you will be expected to write in college. Not bad, but if you can take someone else, it would be better.

He is very picky about his grading; tough on all papers. I do feel like I learned a lot from him but he wasn't very helpful whenI needed the assistance. Also I missed one class from being ill and he was kinda upset. He says you can miss up to 4 classes but then acts upset over 1 absents. If possible I reccommend another professor!

Be prepared to work, Professor Stringer is an extremely gifted teacher & writer himself. Tough grader (on papers), but if you’re lacking in English skills as I did, you will learn a lot. Very willing to help in & outside of the classroom. Jumped through hoops to take him again for 102. Got two A’s.

Mr. Stringer is a great teacher. I am taking him again for 102. If you like to slack off in class, don't take him. But if you want a teacher who will work with you and teach you what you need to know to be able to progress and graduate in college take him at least once. You owe it to yourself.

Stringer is a tough professor, but he does know his sh*t. He can be very picky when it comes to grading papers considering this is an ENG 101 class. Besides that he is a nice guy and is willing to help you out if you seek help. Just make sure you attend class everyday and do your homework.
