I really enjoyed her class. Sure there's a lot of homework (yellow workbook) but it was helpful. She is a very forgiving grader and overall I learned a lot in her class. If you attend classes and do the assign work, you should be able to get a good grade in her class.

At first i thought it woulf be an easy intro course but i was so WRONG! Quizzes are okay but tests are hard and time is limited. She speaks too fast, more than half of the students can follow her. A very nice person, but the course is too much for people has no experience of japanese. Too much work to do. The yellow workbook is a torture.

It has been almost 2 years since I took Ms. Takei's 1115, but having moved on to SFU, having experienced the grass on the other side, I must commend Takei. Learning a language is tough, it requires patience and enthusiasm on behalf on the student, and an instructor both experienced and that is willing to go the extra mile. Takei is very much that.

I thought this this was a piece of cake but i make a HUGE mistake. I was aiming for somewhere around 95% but she(or her markers) is very anal when it comes to acceptable answers. She explains everything in full details but her midterms is rigged. Class avg was 52% If you want take this class as a GPA booster, be ready to play by her own rules.

She's nice and helpful. You need to read the textbook for quiz. There is a lot of homework, but it's easy. She clearly explains the materials and does lots of exercises in class. Marking assistant is really strict.Work hard, it's easy to get a high mark.

Class was cakewalk if you put in some effort. Homework and attendance are mostly for the sake of class participation marks. Names will be called out randomly to answer during class and quizzes require reading the textbook even if grammar was covered in class.

Keep up with the class and you will have fun. Slack off and you will suffer miserably. You will need to go the extra mile when it comes to exams. She will go above and beyond what is expected of an instructor, so it's up to you to do the same if you want that A+.

Do not take jap with her, she makes things confusing and talks about random things. It is not an easy course and it requires a lot of studying. Quizes are easy. Oral test is okay. But midterms are very difficult.

I thought this course would be a piece of cake with my advantage of being born+raised in Japan. However, it didn't go as nicely as I wanted. I failed my oral test though I can pronounce better than other students with no Japanese background. Teaching/marking assistant is rather strict as well, not easy to get high mark. The teacher is nice, though.

Takei sensei is a nice,passionate teacher.She takes attendence and it is worth around 5% of the grade. Midterms are not very hard, translations should be very accurate.Besides, she is very helpful too, often asks students if they have problems or not.She provides sufficient exercises to us, if you know all questions,you probably get at least a B+

Great Instructor. Clear from the beginning that this would be a challenging course, do not take it if you are taking 5 courses or expect an easy GPA booster. You need to work hard at it. She is genuine and well-humored.
