Al is the man! laid back dude, I really enjoy this class and will be taking another of his next semester. Some say he is hard on grading and, while that may be true for some he ALWAYS offers that if you bring your work to him afterwards he will tell you what you need to fix to get an A. I think this man has inspired me to change to an Art Major.

This class was okay. There are plenty of painting projects of a different variety, which is a plus. Techniques are taught and explained. I had no previous painting experience, and this class felt difficult and confusing for me. Before taking this class, it's best to know how to take criticism (good, neutral, and bad).

Al is okay. Hes very forgetful. I was not happy with my grades with him most of the time since... I did all the work and showed up the double amount of time the class asked for but he still gave me B's. I asked around and I found out he pretty much only gives A's out to students he really likes. He's okay. just try not to argue with him.

Good ole Al. My first class with Al was a test of my passion for art he pushed me to accel and I became more focused to just be myself and form my own style. This semester I can tell that I learned alot from Al he is an artist himself so criticism comes easy for him but it is constructive

I <3 Al! He's very much a Studio artist, so you have to be used to that. Very laid back, helpful, but sometimes agitated if you don't 'get' it right away. Still he jokes around and is fun to be around, he's passionate about the topic and totally conveys the importance of it's aspects to students throughly interested and passionate about art.

Al is very laid back. If you like to know what your grades are...well just accept a "check+" or a "P" for pass on your quizes. :) Tests are all take-home (even final) and do about 4-6 quizzes in the semester. Watch a lot of videos in class-which I loved as it gave a visual!I wasn'ty interested in this class at first but I've enjoyed this class

I took these two classes with him & he's a good teacher...a little boring at times though. I HATED some of the things we had to do but the way he graded them was ok. Especially in the painting class...as long as it was started that's all that mattered.

Friendly, laid back instructor. Is able to help develop better skills in almost every student. Excellent guest speakers/artists. Assignments are a bit dry sometimes,but overall, an encouraging teacher, and a good place to learn to paint.
