Pretty hard class. I recommend going to class because he lets you take notes and use them on the tests, however its hard to know what to prepare for. Not very helpful but did give a curve on one of the tests when everyone did bad. Took half the semester before he actually started teaching. Don't recommend if there is another professor.

The class is unlike what you would expect intro stats to be like; there is a lot of computer programming involved. If you have not programmed before, you will probably feel lost at times, like I was. HOWEVER, Dr. Arnholt is one of the most patient professors I have ever had, and works hard to help his students understand what they are doing.

CANNOT stand this 'professor'. Easily the worst class I have ever taken, didn't teach a thing and was very condescending and obnoxious. Was not statistics- it was data management. I spent a good 5 hours in his office every week (along with my whole class because no one understood what he wanted us to do). DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. EVER.

Its not a regular statistics class. You will be doing coding for a computer software, and it is not easy. You really have to ask for help, but he will always be there for help if you need it. I really had to try in this class. But at the end you will be so proud of the work you did because it is not easy but it is doable. There is always help.

This class is presented as a regular statistics class then wow, you find yourself having to code all of your assignments! I have to go to math lab every week and spend three hours there for one assignment, and the thing is if you don't go you can't even attempt to do the work. It's peer graded so that helps a lot, but it's a HUGE time investment.

Horrible teacher. This class is supposed to teach how to use programming to accomplish statistics. But he expects all of the stats kids to already know how to program and all of the program kids to know stats. If you ask a question, he tells you to read the notes and textbook and walks away. Doesn't explain anything well

Absolute WORST instructor I have ever dealt with. He doesn't teach anything and he's unhelpful when you ask questions. HORRIBLE. Tons and tons of complicated busy-work. HORRIBLE PERSON.

He's not really a very good instructor. As a CS major taking the required STT3850 course a lot of the lecture material blow straight over my head. That said he's very willing to help in office hours and is a pretty lenient grader. I got an A+ in the course with very little effort.

Hands down the worst professor I have had at Appalachian. The course material is very difficult, and he gives little instruction that will help you with homework. I spent countless hours trying to complete work for his class and never had a clue what I was doing. I couldn't ever make it to his office hours, and he was unwilling to make appts.

A lot of the reviews on here are too harsh. The material is hard, and sometimes he does provide too much detail and confuse students, but he is willing to help you understand the material no madder how much time it takes. I've never seen him get frustrated at a student. It's hard to not like him. He is a good and understanding person.

He goes through problems really fast. He will take questions and try to re-explain things though. I learned more by using the online program for class and basically had to teach myself. I don't know if he wrote the tests or if it came with the program, but the tests did NOT reflect what was on the homework and quizzes.

I'm pretty good at math, but this class was ridiculous. Class consists of him speeding through problems without explaining them and using the R program without even trying to teach it first. He's egotistical and a total jerk to anyone with questions. Only prof I've ever had that really ought to be fired. Avoid taking him at all costs.

Horrible!!! I hated his class. He can't teach and know that going in you have to purchase course compass which is complete BS. If your a girl I suggest you don't take him because he will check you out and stare at your chest.

350words is not enough to begin to explain the torment this professor will bestow upon you.I am a Presidents list student and I'm making a very dishonest low grade in his class.I've spent over 72hrs on homework&such.I've gone to every class and taken all the notes possible and it's simply not worth it. He's a disgrace to the teaching staff at ASU.

Worst teacher I have had!!! He is not willing to help, he goes WAY to fast and acts like you already know what he is presenting. The work is WAY too much and has made me do bad in other classes that are more important. Ridiculous in every aspect. If you want to be miserable, take this class.
