I took him for theory skills. I was doing horrible in his class, not because he was a bad teacher, but because I wasn't good at ear training. I withdrew from the class, however, he let me continue to attend classes so I could get practice. When I took skills the next semester, I passed. It was nice of him to let me keep coming to class!

He was my music theory 1 & 2 professor back in 1968 (his first year, too!) Sounds as if he still finds good in the least of any composition. Very encouraging and positive. I can't believe he's still at IUP - what a monumental talent! Ihope he gets to St. Cecilia someday!

The man is awesome. I am greatful to have had the opportunity to have him as a teacher. He never gives up, no matter how lost you get. He also used many of his own compositions to show us different tecniques in theory. The best music prof at IUP. Take him if you ever have the chance.

Very nice. Great personality, and it shows through his musical ability. He is a little strange with some analogies, but I am always fascinated with his compositional stories!

Great teacher, very smart man. I enjoyed and learned a lot in music comp. The only complaint I have is that he makes up his own words and you have trouble staying on the same page as him, but other than that, Mr. Perlongo rocks!
