An incredible amount of classwork. He's incredibly smart and knowledgeable but can't seem to stay on track with one specific track of learning. If you skip class and don't have an excuse, he will destroy your grade. Also, he will tell you to buy the text book, however it is only used for the homework in the beginning, most of which can be Googled.

So much classwork, only homework is finishing the classwork, which you will often be able to do. He was nice and very knowledgable, but he gets off-track so easily, which can be frustrating at times.

Class time is easy, he lectures for most of class, then you complete an in-class activity. Basic math skills are necessary to complete each activity. His lectures can get boring, but the material is interesting. Tests are easy if you study for an hour the night before and complete the review questions.

Professor Hirshfeld gives really interesting lectures. He really tries to structure the course so students can get more out of it, so instead of lecturing for the whole time he will assign a worksheet that you finish in class. I hate sciences, and this class was actually interesting and made sense to me. You definitely need to show up to pass.

My favorite teacher. Today he labeled a picture of Hubble with his name and labeled the other guy "some guy." Here is my favorite quote of his: I was gonna say something really profound but I forgot what it was A. Hirshfeld.

His lectures are interesting. His tests can be tough but there are plenty of opportunities for extra credit. There is no homework in this class only in class activities at the end of each class.

He is an awful teacher. Straight A student and received a C in the class. I studied very hard but the review packets are irrelevant to whats on the tests. Everything he lectures about has nothing to do with the tests. expects to much in intro level class Make sure to do well on the in class labs only way to help your grade. Highly do NOT recommend

Go to class and you're golden. He offers extra credit, gives you the answers to the test on the study guide. Just make time to study and even go to the review sessions (If you go to those and study for like an hour or so you'll do fine on the tests) No hw. I'd take another of his classes again

His class was so much fun! His exams were hard but you just need to study for them! Lots of class activities every week but you can just do them with your friends and get As on them! Lots of extra credit activities also so there is so way you can get a bad grade in his class! Take his class!!!

As long as you're somewhat familiar with the very basics of trig, you'll do fine in this class as far as math. It's a very easy A. Do the activity worksheets and read a little bit. He's nice and very helpful. The class can get boring, but it's really as interesting as the questions you ask.

Great class. Activities were really easy and kinda fun. Heavily math based but he gave you a formula and you just plug in numbers. Tests were multi-choice though not real easy but if you like Astronomy you can do well. Great guy with a good sense of humor, funny multi-choice "(D) Coffee Farts & Candy"

If you're not good at math, don't take astronomy. This class had too many unclear activities, and quizzes and tests weren't all that clear. Professor himself wasn't a bad guy;helpful and knew a lot about astronomy but seriously this class is not an easy grade.

Nice guy - you need to go to class cas there's 'worksheets' at the end and he takes attendence from that. The quizes are easy you use the pointer things .. and the tests are kind of easy- just study the notes! if you dont though you'll do bad ... 30% of the grade is the worksheets. alright class.

I loved astronomy, but this guy almost killed it. Sure the material is easy, any 5th grade book will teach the same things. The tests were easy, just study the notes he emails to you. It's an easy A if you pay attention. The problem is that they guy is a slow, monotone, uninteresting speaker. He often cancelled class too.

He is very clear in his lectures. Go to class, take thorough notes, and ask questions. Do extra credit whenever possible. Interesting classes. Does not take attendance, but vital information covered everyday. Tests can be tricky; pay attention to how he words questions. I got an A+.
