Took 5 classes where he was the instructor for the class, both Vietnam classes, British Seminar, and comparative politics. Very interesting lectures, open to different views. Never got the impression that you had to agree with him. He is always willing to help his students. I never regretted taking his class.

Vietnam is a great class and Katz is a great teacher. You will learn a tremendous amount about the vietnam war as well as its parallels to the Iraq war and never become bored while doing so. The only catch is the work load is absolutely brutal. Must read 4 books and write 5 page papers on them as well as takehome final and midterm both 15 pages

Was AMAZING!!!!!! I had this class at 930AM and it was the single class I never missed!!!! It was so interesting and he kept your attention easliy. I HIGHLY recommend this proff!!! Very easy which could be because he is intersting and makes it easy.

I've taken Katz four times. Not because his class is particularly easy, but because he has a passion for the subject(s) he teaches. Clear and effective, he is hand down the best teacher in the politics dept. He is a fair grader.

So passionate about the Vietnam War period. Only papers, a takehome midterm and final. A decent amount of reading, but the books are enjoyable. A must for politics majors.
