I loved this class and she is an articulate, amusing and presents her lectures well. There are many assignments and mountains of reading. Many found her grading harsh, but I got better grades from her than from Jason the TA. Get to grips with the first couple of readings and the scene by scene analysis of music videos for the summaries and exam.

workload is way too heavy. many assignments and are marked quite harshly. final paper worth only 20% but was required to write up to 10 pages. Final exam was not optional like the previous year.

reading materials & lectures are thoughtful but the workload is too heavy. reading materials are very lengthy. can go up to 100 pages a week. There are assignments throughout the semester, which can include an optional final paper of 8-10 pages and a number of reports. There is also a final exam. Class average is low.

Prof Harris gives extremely well-organized lectures and her lecture slides are well detailed. I thoroughly enjoyed this course as it was very fun, thought-provoking and interesting. However, she is a hard marker! Be prepared to do lots of readings (and a close one at that)! She is overall a very knowledgeable, kind and funny professor.

Best teacher at this school. Extremely helpful, enjoyable to learn from. If you didn't like this teacher it is because you didn't work hard and you did poorly in her class. You snooze you lose.

I found the professor very unclear, and not helpful in understanding the topic. Her disucssions weren't controled and flew all over the place. Further, course expectations were unclear and comments were not helpful. Good passion for the material but poor teaching ability.

A professor who is passionate about teaching and actually cares about her students (and knows all their names!). Her infectious enthusiasm stands in stark contrast to the other egotistical prof's I have had who don't care about thier students, or about presenting material in an engaging, exciting manner.

Prof. Harris is an amazing prof. She is brilliant, and clear, and ALWAYS willing to help her students. She took every opportunity to make sure we felt comfortable with where we were in the course, but she never spoon fed. She is more than fair, and always willing to listen. She never patronizes. She never dismisses. She is an incredible professor.

This is one of the best courses I've taken at UofT. Its only downfall is that Prof Harris is a very hard marker. However, it's the kind of class where you won't mind putting in the extra effort necessary, and Prof Harris herself is extremely helpful and kind.
