She is nice but her grading is very tough. Be prepared to read all of the texts in order to pass the quizzes. She picks little details for the quizzes. She is helpful if you email her with questions. Read discussion posts they are helpful and sometimes she will have posts with extra credit opportunities.

She is a great English prof. She will love you if you participate and give any sort of input into the class discussion. You will definitely need the book, and try to make it to every class, but she gives you some freebies. I am an English major, but she still critiques all over my essays and gives great feedback. Professor Cotch is an English Professor. When you take any college level English course you are expected to read and write. I don't understand students that complain about that. Anyway, Professor Cotch is awesome! She is really smart, and loves her work. You would be lucky to take a class with her.

If you are looking for an easy A you won't find it here. What you will find is a great professor that really knows her stuff and is willing to help you understand the material. This is a tough class, especially if you aren't a reading buff... but Alana Cotch can certainly "lead you to the water".

dr. cotch is the hardest prof i've had, but she is definatly a good prof. she likes to get input on what the students like and don't like. i call her the "hand out queen" if u take her class bring 2 folders for handouts. also keep in mind that you will be reading a lot, and u will need to be at every class! she's challenging but worth a semester.

Very challenging but very good. She will improve your writing ten fold. Lot's of reading/literary analysis, and the papers are incredibly challenging and time consuming, but you will be proud of how far you've come. Attendance helps you and your grade.
