I loved Professor Minklers class! It can be a bit boring since he does assign long readings but every class is dedicated to going over them so it ends up being less work than it seems. He honestly cares about his students and wants you to be engaged. Participation does matter, he takes attendance faithfully everyday and this does effect your grade

Professor Minkler is great. He knows economics and is always relating everything to beer. Homework is difficult and time consuming but it helps in relation to understanding the material for the exams. He is always there to help and he is very witty. Would love to take one of his classes again.

You can tell Minkler is highly intelligent in the field of economics and really knows his stuff. Mid-term was 8 questions and the final was 15 questions and were both challenging. If you put in the time and really study you should be able to get a B or higher. Plus he gives a very generous curve for the class. Good professor, tough material.

The class was very challenging and this isn't his field of study. As a professor Minkler is pretty good, he wants you to understand the material but he sometimes falls short with his real life examples. There were 3 long homework assignments that you can't do the night before. His exams are fairly difficult but not too bad if you study. Go to class

This class is tough. He's an interesting guy but exams are hard with no room for error (only 8 questions), lectures are long and boring and not very helpful most of the time. Homeworks are time consuming and basically the only way to bring a grade up. While his curve is good (can get a D- with a 40) his class is tough and I wouldn't recommend.

If you go to class and take good notes you should get an easy A. The exams were open book open notes so without the notes you wouldn't do well. Also, prepare for reading assignments for every class and to be called on at random to ensure that you did your reading. He is a smart guy, fair grader, no quizzes only mid-term and final.

Lanse Minkler is a good professor. The class is early but you get credit for just showing up so that's an easy 20 percent. Exams are hard (all essays) and he grades pretty subjectively but there must be a pretty generous curve at the end because my 85 turned into an A-.

Dr Minkler is a great professor. He's extremely intelligent and very knowledgeable on economics. The class is tough and fast paced, but he is helpful and wants students to do well. If you like economics, take his class.

Went into the course expecting a challenge. He failed the majority of the class on the first exam, and the class average was low most of the semester. I wouldn't recommend this professor to anyone.

Horrible teacher. Beer, pizza and mexican food make me sick now. He is boring, uses a cheap book (explains why it's horrible). The quizzes are ridiculously hard to make up for all of the cheating that goes on, so I guess it doesn't benefit you to be honest. Avoid this horrible professor at all costs.

I received zero credit on one of the two required papers for this class because he disagreed with my topic. Makes lots of reading assignments, each with a relating homework question. Makes you purchase 4 books for the class totaling about $200. Ended with a C+ after a ton of work. Avoid.

The structure of this class changed recently so TAs are no longer a factor - worst mistake UConn has EVER made. If you're an auditory learner and you can sponge everything he says up at obscene hours of the morning, go for it, but otherwise, opt out. This man made even beer a confusing topic for me.

Class was hard. 6 online quizzes worth 60% and one final worth 40%. You would think the quizzes were easy, but they're not...even with a book open and people helping. So unless you get 100% on all the quizzes, and decent on the final, it's hard to get an A. Mandatory for lecture..you'll get lost without. And read the book for sure.

Assumes you have taken Macro and refers to it all the time. Not clear with graphs. Talks to fast for you to write anything useful down. Provides no help on any assignment. Assignments are not available for reference after they're graded. Only way to see what you answered incorrectly is to go to office hours, so if you have a class you have no idea.

Don't worry, if you have any interest in economics, you will do fine. TA and discussion helps. He doesn't use powerpoint slides and you can't zone out in class or you'll miss something. He seems friendly in lecture not rude. Great curve!

Doesn't use slides, so I relied on Discussions which were the most helpful. I don't feel going to lectures was relatively beneficial, but I had a good TA. Minkler wasn't very approachable. If you're interested in subject, you'll do fine. AWESOME curve! And lowest dropped test grade.
