Comment:
Avery is extremely dull, from the very first class meeting to the last. He will tell you that his PowerPoints are cluttered and difficult to read, and yet will make no change to his teaching method. He will curve, but not enough. He will avoid questions by just talking about a tangent then tell you he will get back to you....and never will

The overall course material is hard. 3 test and online homework (which is graded). Curves tests 15 points because most students are borderline failing. Getting a B is possible but getting a C is most likely.

Fairly grading, and he curves. You have to work hard if you want to get A. If he tells you that he will test everything, then you should review and make sure you undertand everthing on his ppt.

Prof Avery's finance class was one of the hardest classes i've had. He does not give study guides when you ask about what to study he tells you everything! Curves his exams because the average score usually ranges in the 50's or 60's. Class extremely boring, useless old slides with old hw questions. Never posted hw answers online. DO NOT TAKE!!

Professor Avery was one of the best professors i've had at Towson in 3 years. He was always there if you had a question and was more than willing to work with you if you put in the effort. Finance is a boring topic but I enjoyed going to class and hearing him lecture. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

The most boring professor ever. Not graded homework. Tests are hard, material is somewhat understandable without additional help. useful info once you understand it

Do yourself a favor and take this guy! I had to take finance twice because I didn't pass the first time. Professor Avery is incredibly boring but he will always be there to help you! The subject is difficult and the tests are hard, but he curves! TAKE THIS GUY!

After reading the comments below, these students must not be intelligent. This class was a lot easier than people make it. If you are an accounting major, it is like another Accounting 302 class because a lot of time is spent on present value/ future value and bonds.

Only grades are 3 tests and 4 points for attendance which he never took. First test was 2 months into the semester and the 2nd test was the week before finals. It was the most boring class ever and all he does is read powerpoints and speak financial jargon. He has no idea how to convey important topics to students.

dont do it. i asked him a question about a test once (after it was over) and he literally shrugged his shoulders and walked way from me. VERY hard homeworks and tests. doesnt even give answers to study from. only class ive ever had this hard of a time with. even with his extreme curve im still borderline failing. pick someone else, please

terrible. abbreviates evrything and confuses you. tests and hw probs are way too difficult. teaches like hes talking to a financial professional, not to students. just dont do it. im an honors student and i couldnt even handle this class. tests are impossible. material is very unclear and he is terrible at explaining things. just run the other way

Dr. Avery is a pretty good professor. The class may be boring at times, but he uses power points and goes over all the homework. Much of the material can be applied to other classes. People that were in my class thought the tests were difficult, I don't think they were. As long as you studied his notes and the hw you will be fine.

Nice guy, but bad at teaching. Seems like he really regrets having to be a teacher rather than being the "corporate financial" person he was. only uses power points, really lazy, first test isnt until 2 months of not knowing what you're learning. good luck... i recommend taking it with someone else.

lets out huge belches in class but turns head and thinks we don't hear. seems obsessed with polar bears and seals and there "plight". 3 hard tests but study book and you'll be fine. easy "c" but hard "b" impossible "A". please don't emit carbon to save the bears! dont tell him if you drive suv or pickup - he'll rip you up.

Avery is a nice guy, he tries to make finance as pleasant as possible. PPT slides for all lectures, it becomes old and boring fast. I am MKTG major so this class seemed pointless to me. The material is extremely hard if you have no interest in finance. I was concerned about passing the class, he gave me a C and that is all I asked for. Nice guy

Three tests. Do you homework its helps a lot when preparing for the exams. Also, he is willing to meet and discuss after class, thought I wasn't going to pass but did my homework a little bit of reading in the book and received a "C"

He teaches and relys on power point for his lecture. His tests are fairly tricky and mostly computational. Do the HW and you will pass the class but don't expect to have a clear picture of finance after you are finished this class. Very boring lecture would be a understatement.

He made learning finance alot more easier. Nothing was hard in his class. Very easy to read powerpoints. Do not purchase the book because it'll be a waste of money. He teaches EXACTLY from the powerpoint. also, rely on the powerpoints when studying for the test. Very helpful. I recommend him! I wish I would have taken him for FIN 332.

Terrible teaching style. I went to every class and he was horrible to follow. Definitely do not take. Test are terrible, forced to curve by more than 15 pts on most.
