He is a very understanding professor. The only professor I've met that really considers whether or not his students are learning the material. This man knows what he is doing not like Urbain Tchoua. His lectures are very important, expect at least a quiz per week, he will go over them beforehand.

best chemistry teacher!.. the class is hard and he is very strick grading the work but he answers all your questions and he doesnt let students left behind.. I took him for chem2 and I got an A in his class. I regret not taking him for chem1.. you have to really spend a lot of time studying for the class but if you do, you will do very good

Prof Alvarez is the best professor to have for chem i took him for chem 1411 & 1412 and wow did i learn a lot he is extremely picky but and tells you exactly what he wants but other than that he's perfectly fine do as much extra credit as possible and pass the tests and you'll be fine

I definetly recommend this professor.. He IS VERY PICKY on his grading but he helps you out by telling you exactly how he wants the work done! He really breaks it down and explains everything in simple terms.. VERY ORGANIZED.. Although attendance is not Mandatory i do recommed you attend class so you wont get lost!!! Overall GREAT PROFESSOR :)

Very VERY demanding,very picky as well when it comes to significant figures and other calculations. Can be a broken record at times as he constantly tells the whole class "you should already know this." He will help you if you ask, so don't be afraid even if he seems rude, he doesn't mean to. If your good in math that makes a world of a difference

He is SUPER organized, and likes the lab reports as he requests (typed, doubled spaced, margins,fonts,size etc..)<--YES he checks EVERYTHING!! DO the extra credit and the homework binder. He is a wonderful teacher. Yes, very demanding, but if you do things the way he tells you everything is easy. Pay attention, must go to class. He gives you extra credit. I took Chemm= 1412 during the summer with him and also got an A. He will answer all your questions if you have any.
