Dr. Kirby was very friendly, and very helpful. Made a class I wasn't all that interested in pretty interesting after all. Fat with responses, and cheerful. Important to have fast responses in an online situation. Overall - a good experience - I recommend him highly!

He is very liberal and not a very effective teacher. I really hate waking up and wasting my time going to this pointless class. All he does is talk and talk and talk. He can barely speak let alone remember anyones name. Absolutely terrible.

Kirby is awesome, he is so passionate about politics it makes me feel that way too. you have to attend class to get notes and read the book, but a great class!!

Attendance is now mandatory for HIST 121. He quizes every monday 5pts. each- these can sometimes be tricky. there are 4 exams these mix between lecture and book. His tests are inconsistent ALWAYS on different things, sometimes book, sometimes lecture. DOES NOT help you outside of class very often.

He knows his stuff. Sometimes it is hard to follow, but some of the topics are very interesting. I would definitely take a class with him again. Attendance is not mandatory, but most of the content on tests and quizzes come from the book and notes taken in class. It's important to be in attendance.

He was a great professor in every way shape and form. Very helpful when you had questions, and always was available during office hours. Very interesting teaching style, but I wouldnt have it any other way. Would take more classes with him even if they didnt count.

Very enthusiastic about the subject he is teaching. He is also very interesting, entertaining, and sometimes awkward to watch. He really emphasizes the importance of critical thinking and not taking everything you read as fact. You are quizzed on the textbook chapters each week but if you read them you should be fine. Fun professor!

Learned quit a bit from this class, however, he teaches only from one angle. He is a HUGE LIBERAL. If you want to be educated from both sides of the political spectrum in order to form opinions of your own dont take his class! (Take Zagorski)

I think Dr. Kirby is awesome. Yes he has his opinions but the man is passionate about history and politics. I would much rather have some one like Kirby then some stuffy professor who is just there to be there. And he is more hyper than he is attention deficit. Get it straight.

Kirby is a cool, quirky kinda ADD guy, he is very helpful and encourages people to come talk with him at his office hours. His tests are kind of hard so make sure you study. His lectures are interesting but can also be a bit boring.

I love questioning higher authority and how things work and that's exactly what Dr. Kirby wants of us. Dr. Kirby doesn't want us to just read the book and be satisfied, he was us to read the selected readings and then ask why the book is biased that way. I have only currently taken his American Government class- i wish it was 2 hours instead of 1

Nice guy. I would suggest Dr. Kirby if you are able to teach yourself the material and an easy learner. History was hard for me because it's all memorization and there was no homework to aid in the memorizing. He only gives quiz and test grades so it is up to the individual if you can get by with just those grades.
