Professor Lipecky really enjoys math and wants you to understand and learn the material he is teaching. He provides excellent "helpful hints" for each chapter and puts a lot of time and effort into his class and syllabus. I'm glad he was my teacher to get through the required math core.

Professor Lipecky is the best math professor I have ever had. For international students, we need to do double work because we have the language obstacle. He is so clear in explaining. He gives extra credit. He doesn't grade the h.w giving, but make sure to do it so you can be familiar with the quizzes and exams. Not hard to get an A. Take him !!

This class is easy if you are good at math. Not the best professor, but if you do the work you should be okay!

He was a good instructor, very passionate about calc. He made himself very accessible outside of class and tried his best to help. I always struggles on his exams, which were the only thing that counted in the final grade. He's very big on the proper notation and I thought a little bit of a tough grader. If you struggle in calc GO to his office hrs

If you had a calculus class in high school, this is basically a refresher course. Lectures are a few practice problems for the section and the homework he gives, he doesn't collect. There were only exams in his class, no quizzes. He is a nice teacher and helps you the best he can. He is easy to meet with after class to discuss any misunderstandings

The best professor at Duquesne. He helps you understand calculus at great lengths. If you do not pass, then it is 100% on you. Do not take William Kirchner

Good teacher, grade is composed of only tests, but if even if you fail 2 of them you can still pass because his policy lets your final grade supersede the lowest test grade, so the final is worth 40% of the grade potentially. I would take him again, pleasant and fair teacher.

His class is pretty easy and you can tell he is really into math (maybe a little too much). He gives extra credit and his exams and quizzes are easy. If you understand math then do not waste your time studying. I have heard that he gets mad when you go to him for help and do not understand what he is saying. Pretty easy class.

Lipecky was really into what he was teaching. He basically gives you information for you to interpret on your own. In class, he'll work through examples. The quizzes/tests contained material that was more difficult than the problems done in class. Take advantage of office hours. You should definitely have background in calculus to understand it

Lipecky is a genuinely nice person outside of class. He has great intentions, and is super passionate about calc, but is not the best at conveying the information if you are learning it for the first time. I had already taken calculus in high school so I understood the basics, but if you've never had calculus before, you will likely struggle.

Alex is very passionate about calculus. However he does not explain the basic concepts of calculus very well, which can make the material hard to understand. Luckily I had taken calculus in high school and I knew what he was talking about. But if this is your first time taking it be sure to understand the basics. Takes a long time do each problem

Alex is SO nice - he really tries to help his students and wants you to do well. He explains the material well and is super approachable. I have had him twice and I would take him again. The exams aren't super hard and he gives a lot of practice problems to help you prepare.

He really conveys his knowledge for mathematics. He will work with you on any problem you want until you get it. Very smart and wise and just knows what he is doing. Do the problems outside of class so you can ask him questions in class. Only grades he uses are test grades, so stay on top of your material and you will be fine.

You can tell that Lipecky is a good professor by the amount of good things said about him on this site. However, he is not the teacher to have if you've never taken it before or are not completely comfortable with calc. I ended up dropping his class because I was going to fail but I took it with a new professor and did fine.

If you are willing to work hard to an extreme level then this is the right person for you. I worked harder just to barely get a "C" (Reminder: 100 level course) than an "A" in a 400 level course. If you do not go to every office hours you will not pass. It should not be that difficult to get an "A" or even "B" in a 100 level course. What a joke!

Professor Lipecky was the best professor i've ever had. He knows how to explain the material effectively and knows how to relate to students. Last semester, he made the final exam optional for those who don't have an A on the class, and would replace the final exam score with the lowest score you had. I really recommend taking calc with him.
