I had the class several years ago so it is possible the class has improved. This professor completely incomprehensible. Many students were panicking because of his poor grading method. He is one of the worst teachers of my life and if UCD was fair they would give me a refund. Shocked they made him a full professor. Guess he is there for research.

Great teacher, learn a lot in this class. He is funny and very sincere. The exams are a bit different from the practice ones. If you read the book and go to class, you will be fine. He does have an accent, hard to understand at first, but you will get used to it.

Hard class, all memorization, do not need to go to lecture if you just read the book and look at the posted powerpoints. gives practice test before each exam. hard to understand with accent.

Mogliner is not helpful at all as a teacher. I remember the first class he said that do not come to his office hours if you need help with problems, go to a TA. His lecture was basically him writing on the board the slides that he posted online. It was very hard to pay attention in class because it was so boring. His tests are pretty easy though.

Lecture was a great time to read the Aggie and do the crosswords. He's a nice man, but not a good lecturer. The exams were really easy, but TA's wrote the weekly quizzes for discussion, and those were NOT easy. My notes seemed incomprehensible because his lectures were rather disjointed.

Professor Mogilner does not care about his students in the least. He is not posting last quarters grades until over a week into the new quarter. (he is on vacation) Has a very strong Russian accent. I absolutely loved math before taking his course, and while in his class I had no motivation to even pick up the textbook. If possible, don't take him.

first of all, he has a cool russian accents and likes ringtones. he's okay at explaining the material, discussion makes it more clear. only one midterm that was pretty easy, but the final was much harder.

...., he is...very very nice teacher. But not very good at explaining the materials. you understand 1/3 in lecture, the rest 2/3 is by reading the book or understand urself.Test is kinda hard.....nothing to say.....

He doesnt really teach well. I only chose him because I had to. I gave up on attending classes at the end of the quarter, because I found it useless. The book teaches wayyyy better than him. Dont take him!!!

His lectures are just readings from the book. If you can teach math to yourself, then he's a good teacher; the midterm and quizzes aren't that hard.

He messes up a lot in lectures while doing example problems. He's kinda funny and tells a lot of lame jokes. I thought this class was pretty easy b/c the midterm was fair since it was modeled just like his practice exams. the quizzes are also curved!

He is hard to understand due to his accent. He used powerpoint to lecture in class, and posted it online. I found this helpful because I printed it before class and read it as well and then just went to class a bit more prepared. His TA taught me most of the course. Do the homework, do the practice tests, do to discussion, read book.

20% for homework at first class, promised that no one would get lower than a c, so that was a huge plus. all i did was go to most of the classes (3/4 total class) and did all the homework. got out with a B. definitely recommend him if you are good at teaching math to yourself.

Hated him in 17A BUT he really improved for 17C. He planned lectures and seemed more interested. His midterm and final were fair and overall the class was okay. He is a little hard to understand with his thick Russian accent but it wasn't impossible. If you have a choice between him or Tuffley, I prefer Tuffley, but he isn't the worst out there.

He was a pretty good teacher. He got the material presented in a more helpful way than the book, but he focused a lot on examples as opposed to the actual material, I thought.

His accent was hard to understand, so I ended up not going to class for the last 2 weeks of class because it was kind of pointless to go if you can't understand his speaking. The tests were pretty difficult, so I may only get a C.

Word problems on the midterm did not fully coincide with homework and lecture notes. There was a big curve since the average for midterm was very low; 45/100 was considered a C-. Lectures were confusing, but homework was okay.

Terrible terrible terrible. He doesn't tell you the objective of the day, so you end up with him saying, "bla bla bla, take my word for it." Doesn't explain how he gets the answers at the end, wants you to go home and check it yourself. I miss Lewis...

Not the best professor. I would recommend Lewis by far-100X better. His midterm was easy, pretty straightforward, but his final was a b****! Every ? was based on concepts. But there was HUGE curve. So I guess it all works out in the end.
