He isn't your generic ID prof who is hard headed and unrealistic. He's definitely someone who will want you to do better as a student and makes you think a lot to create new concepts and ideas. Totally love how happy he is whenever he enters class. You need to work hard in his class, but it's worth it. Would definitely consider him for thesis.

Just a fantastic prof. One of the rare good ones at OCADU. Truly can tell he is passionate about design and innovation. Unlike ither profs, he shows his work, and has real autonomous experience. Great thinker and inspiring.

he's so interesting and forward thinking. I kind of hate how I can't really have him as a professor for a while since I'm not in industrial design but he's the best if not one of the best professors at OCAD and still says hi even 4 or 5 years after taking his class.

I felt bad for all the other Intro to Experience Design classes, because they didn't have Manu. Any time he speaks, your mind will be blown. He's incredibly inspiring, and will probably have an impact on me the rest of my art career. Go look up his guest lectures on youtube, you'll see what I mean. Such an incredible man.

If you get the chance to have a class with this man, take it and run. By far the most educational experience at OCAD. If you are afraid of honesty, the unconventional and new knowledge -- then yes, don't take his class. Regardless, I would say every human needs to hear this man speak.

I had Alex Manu for Intro to Experience Design & for any designer this class was life changing. the things he taught were so innovative and forward thinking. I wish I came earlier to class but I hope I have him again because he's such an amazing teacher and he's so charismatic and amazing and entertaining. I was hesitant to stay but I'm glad I did!

He does look like Robin Williams! Amazing person. Visit the Beal and say hi, he's so warm to everyone. His class was one of the most inspiring I've ever taken. Controversial methods, but worth it, most definitely.
