He was so boring and didn't seem to care about the class at all. It's like he just showed up an did the bare minimum to get paid. A lot of his quizzes and tests were put together very poorly and had repeat questions. The texts he had us read outside of class had nothing to do with the class lectures. It was like taking two different classes.

I love learning about U.S. History, but this man made it so unbelievably boring that I dreaded going to class every day. He is very biased, so don't ever disagree with him or he will make a fool out of you in front of the class.

I took US Polticswith Moon. While his class had many readings, the assignments and exams where no hard. All the quizzes where take home and the exam SA questions where given to us in advance. If you are willing to put some time in then you should not have a problem with the class. He can be funny in class but frequently falls behind the syllabus.

Alex is very knowledgeable about politics. However, it seems like he knows so much that he expects his students to as well. Sometimes you won't be sure what exactly he wants, and the readings are a bit tedious.

If you really enjoy one sided politics classes, Moon is the man for you. He certainly make no attempts to hid is political stances and will take it out on you (and your grade) if you don't agree with them.

Had him for U.S. Politics. Knows what he's talking about. Doesn't test on the hw. Only makes you do a few quizzes where he grades harshly. He's nice. Very liberal though. Won't need to do all the readings. Midterm was hard. He is smart but only take the class if you really enjoy politics and don't mind getting bad grades

Comment:
Moon's clases, particularly con law get off topic quite frequently. However the discussions are what moves the class. His tests and hard and outdated, he never explains his assignments, and he is extremely liberal. I would advise not taking his upper level courses if you're not a strong test taker. He's otherwise a great guy.

Doesn't reply to emails, He doesn't notice if you miss class. He barley teaches politics. He makes you do long readings that don't relate to politics. I hated the class. Makes you buy a $140 textbook and you never use it. He is also extremely liberal.

Professor Moon was an okay professor. Not much homework although there are some quizzes throughout the year that are based on incredibly long and boring readings. I really want to emphasize that. I had a pretty strong background in U.S. Politics although since the class was based purely off of these long readings, it was a struggle to keep up.

Please if you value your sanity, do not listen to all the good reviews on here. Idk how that happened, He is literally the worse professor I have ever had. He doesn't teach at all but then the tests are crazy hard with a bunch of stuff from the textbook that we never have talked about. He is so boring. I can't handle this class but love politics.

Out of any teacher at IC, I miss Moon the most. He is the only prof who could have made a 3 hr seminar interesting with his witty & sarcastic humor and enlightening class discussion. There isn't a lot of constant work but his essays were difficult. Only take Moon for high-level classes though. Took him for U.S. Politics 101 & both of us were bored.

I shouldn't have laughed so hard in a course about incarceration and the American prison system. Moon keeps any topic interesting with a wonderful (and very dry) sense of humor and ability to connect with his students. I highly recommend him to ANY student, politics major or otherwise.

If you want to learn something take a class with moon. You will have to work hard but he's fair. Readings are tough but some of the best in IC, class can be entirely discussion based depending on the kids. Smartest Prof I had at IC. Highly recommend theory of punishment.

Attendance is not mandatory but you will miss a lot of the important information he incorporates on exams and quizzes. All of the quizzes are take home so they are easy but the midterm was very hard. He is very lenient and he is funny. However, a lot of tough reading is required.

Alex is a good teacher considering he was teaching U.S. Politics which puts me to sleep. He has a great sense of humor that sometimes we didn't get. He helped me a bit on a personal issue, so got to give him props for that. If you are taking U.S. politics try to get him.

I learned so much from this class! He has a great sense of humor and presents a very cynical but interesting and mostly accurate depiction of American politics. He encourages class discussion and never ignores questions, and he can usually answer them. Exams and quizzes aren't difficult if you do the required reading. Highly recommended!
