Comment:

Gives you all the tools you need to do well. Records lectures and posts notes as well as practice exams. The exams are basically copies of the practices with the numbers changed. Passionate about computer science. DO THE HOMEWORK. Zybooks are 10% of your grade. There are 7 tests. Best counts 27%, second counts 18, and the rest count 9.

Comment:

Kosa is one of the few CSC professors who's actually qualified to do her job. Her class is fairly easy, as she gives you study guides that are extremely helpful for tests. I will say, my one complaint is she never fails to use all 55 minutes of class, and moves wayyyy too fast, but she records her lectures to make up for it.

Dr. Kosa lives and breathes the stuff she teaches and it shows. She makes boring content interesting and appreciates students who show up and put the work in. She can get frustrated a little easily if you ask her to spoon feed you answers or generally don't put forth effort, so she can be a little intimidating but she cares about her students.

Third time taking her. 2710 is super boring, but she makes it a lot more interesting because it's blatant how much she truly loves it. She gives lots of partial credit. She loves when students try, but very obviously hates when people expect her to give the answer. One of the greatest women at the university. Take her at least once if you can.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I think most of the really bad comments about her are from people who didn't try very hard. Discrete Math is really difficult and is not intuitive like you would think. You have to work. I love Dr. Kosa, she's amazing. My only issue with her is that she gets frustrated easily and gets kinda scary lol

Dr. Kosa is a phenomenal teacher. Class will never be canceled (and if it is, expect a makeup lecture) and she will never let out early. She gets frustrated easily, but she is one of the reasons the computer science department flourishes. She cares about all of us. My only complaint is that she takes a while to grade tests.

Dr. Kosa is amazing. She's a genius. Sometimes she can come off as strict or short-tempered in class, but 1 on 1, there's something about her that is hard to explain but her desire for her students to succeed and excel is tremendous. I love her so much that her class inspired me to change my major to CSC. I'd recommend her.

Dr Kosa is a good instructor, but is rather difficult for this course. Discrete Structures is not an easy class by any means, but she definitely expect you to know your formulas and proofs. You can make it through it as long as you really focus and put the time into this class. I strongly recommend attending every class and utilizing office hours

Lectures are super boring after the midterm. She just reads through code examples that she posts online. To be honest, you're better off just skipping and self teaching. That being said, if you go to her office hours and need a question answered then you will absolutely get the answer you need. She's great one on one. Textbook is unnecessary.

Kosa teaches quite well and is knowledgable on the topics she is discussing, but she can sometimes ramble on about stuff that most of the students in the class already know. She is very graceful on her tests though as they are all out of 110 points. I would highly recommend her.

She talks at length about things that are obvious and doesn't often tell how to actually program. Every class she says "work on your code a little bit at a time" and many other truisms. I know that! Sometimes she's helpful when you go to office hours, but then she goes into lecture mode where she just shows code and say obvious things about it.

Grading is as follows: 7 tests, no midterm or final. Best test counts as 30% of final grade, 2nd best counts as 20%, and the rest count as 10%. She is a wonderful teacher and I never studied outside of class except for pre-test cramming. Go to class and participate and you can do just fine. I'd take her again!

Love, love, love this professor. If you are looking for an easy A, this isn't the professor for you. If you are looking to learn the material, she will help you out in any way possible. A little boring class(material wise) but she manages to bring in overheads, emails us links & articles, and relates it to real world. Take Kosa for anything you can
