He is a great teacher and very insightful. Be prepared to contribute to the discussion, but he often over talks students and will just keep going. When the class started he came off a little arrogant and does from time to time with his opinion on things.

Easily one of the best instructors I've had at App. He clearly cares for his students and the subject. He gives great feedback on the assignments, and doesn't assign too much. He expects participation in class, but he makes you care about the discussions and gets everyone involved. My writing's improved so much just from his feedback. 10/10

He's a talker. His lectures are long and sometimes boring, but he has a lot of good things to say and he's very passionate about the reading. He's always willing to help and wants his students to do well. There's a lot of reading, but it's mostly interesting. The midterm and final were an easy A if you read. Take him if you have a chance.

He's very clear about what you have to do to pass, and he encourages his students to be more analytical of the material. Quizzes are tougher than exams.

Already said, but I can't stress it enough. He's an okay professor, but he will not stop talking! He'll ask questions but ignore raised hands and continue taking until he ends up answering his own question. I found it extremely frustrating and disrespectful. He even cut people off during their class presentations. Not my favorite.

Hate the subject but loooove him. Seriously changed my opinions on everything I thought I hated about literature and the papers weren't too terrible. Only grades were a paper, a midterm, final, and participation so you need to put in some effort. Spark notes and shmoop will be your best friend. But he is one of the best teachers I've had. TAKE HIM!

He's a super easy teacher, i rarely put much effort into my papers and got a B or better on each one. The difficult thing is that he LOVES to talk, he'll run the class to the last second having spoke 45 minutes on a 3 page story. Hes really into the class though and is a super nice and understanding guy. Easy A, just do the papers.

Though the class is easy, it is very very boring. Alex does a lot of talking with little to no interaction with the students. Work is minimal; for my class I had to watch 8 movies outside of class. I was in a summer class so I'm not sure how different it would be compared to regular session. 40% of grade was 4-6 pg paper; 40% final and 20% other.

Pitofsky's great! He tells you exacy what to expect, he's really fair with grading, and he emphasizes learning much more than testing. He facilitates discussion but really lets his students direct the conversation. I've definitely learned a lot.

I was dreading taking a summer course on British Lit, but Dr. Pitofsky made it extremely interesting. All our the analysis that we did correlated to present day themes or events. This professor is so knowledgeable on just about every subject (he used to be an attorney AND has an affinity for 90s rap music) He is also attractive :)

Dr. Pitofsky is an awesome teacher. His lectures can get a little boring sometimes, but if you take notes and include what he says in your essays, you'll be fine. Attendance was only mandatory at the beginning. I got a lot out of this class and he's one of my favorite teachers.

Alex is the man. He knows everything about the actors and movies covered. He talks the whole class time, but it makes it go by faster. He also is super helpful when it comes to writing as well. I'd take him again.

He relies way too much on student interaction during lectures; everyday he waits and waits for students to answer his questions...very boring. It's very hard for me to go to this class everyday, because of how boring it is. It also stinks that you have to watch the movies on your own. Easy quizzes and tests; grades leniently.

Pitofsky is amazing! I'm a theatre major, and I got a lot out of his Studies in Drama class. He does have an interruption problem... but he's very enthusiastic, which makes the class incredible! Also, he's really good looking, which is a huge plus!
