Comment:
Really takes the fun out of learning history when you get your grade demolished for not choosing to use a Marxist lens in your paper. His lectures are okay, but not dull as they are more conversational. Would not recommend unless you are going to choose the Marxist lens in his classes. Some of the assignment don't make sense without using it.

Best history class I've ever taken. Dr. Prusin has lengthy lectures, but they're so interesting time flies by. His criteria for good essays are clear, but if you have problems, talk with him during office hours. Talking with him one-on-one can be intimidating, but it's worth it. Be prepared to work, but get ready an amazing course.

Prusin is a very Russian professor, which many will know comes with strict expectations of attendance, marvelous anecdotes about growing up behind the iron curtain, and the nagging suspicion that he has probably had to kill men with shoelaces before. Despite his harsh exterior, however, he is a very fair and kind professor.

Fantastic teacher, incredibly strict, hysterically evil. Possibly ex-spetsnaz. Be late or rude at your own considerable peril. Will exit class with improved understanding of history, also fear of death.

Dr. Prusin is amazing- incredibly intelligent, thought provoking and demands your respect and best effort. He can be intimidating to the weak minded, but he has been one of my favorite professors ever and one of the reason I am pursing my PhD. - Stephanie Pick

Dr. Prusin is my favorite professor here- he's so funny, and I never miss a class if I can help it. He gives you exactly what will be on the tests. There's in class essays and a fair amount of reading (but I honestly believe you can get a B or C just off taking notes in class). Oh, and did I mention that I love Dr. Prusin?

Great guy. Very helpful. Makes class enjoyable and easy to understand and follow. Great in-class discussions that really get everyone thinking, including political discussions sometimes. This guy was in the Russian Army at one point and has a great style. Was just born to teach.

Probably the best teacher I've ever had. I don't even like history and I aced this class. He makes it very interesting and easy to follow. His accent was not hard to understand and actually made it easier to remember what he said. Tests are pretty easy, mainly basic essay writing. Nothing to hard.

He ops for lots of class discussion and i mean lots of it. If you're lookin at a lower level history course, the class will be huge and can be intimidating to speak up. Usually, the few regulars will regulate where the discussions go. I say if you have the choice, take him in upper level courses where the class will be smaller and easier to get involved in. Tests are pretty bad but easy to prepare for. Remember, use lots of specifics!!

Not too hard, gives you the exact test/quiz before you have it. As long as you like his dry sense of humor and can put up with him ranting about the entire class's ignorant once a week, I recommend the class.

His class was really difficult, but at least it was really well structured and informative. Be prepared to not have more than a week's notice on anything and keep in mind when the drop date is because he really doesn't care if you pass or not. Be sure you do the reading too.

Very interesting and worth taking. Very strict on grammar and such. I re-learned how to write in his class but got a LOT out of it. Recommend his classes but a S/U grade is a good option to take so you can enjoy the class w/o the pressure.

Great Guy, explains the finer details of history that you wont get out of the common history book. However, has a tendency to be VERY strict on grammar, etc. in papers. ( Grammar Nazi )
