To say that Dr. Pantsov knows his material would be a gross understatement. I have never before meet anyone with such an interest in a topic combined with a true fire in sharing it with others. The man is truly brilliant, and he's also a great guy. You will WANT to go to his lectures. A great teacher, not just a professor. Study the study guide.

If you have a chance, you really must take this class. Pantsov is interesting, passionate, and extremely intelligent. There is never ever a boring moment, and most importantly, you learn so much over the course of 9 weeks. Tests are hard and you need to know your stuff, but if you pay attention and take notes, you'll find it's well worth it!

I went to one class because I couldn't understand his Russian version of English. If you go to class, I heard he is the type who loves to call on people randomly, so know your material. You can easily get an A in this class if you have a good memory and the ability to BS an essay.

Enthusiastic prof who's very excited by what he teaches. His voice isn't monotone-a definite plus for a night class. He gives a study sheet with 10 essay questions and identifications. Too bad you don't know which question you would get on the test. Take good notes and don't fall asleep, that helps in memorizing 4000 years of Chinese history.
