Dr. Brown is an amazing professor who cares about the success of his students. I was in his class years ago, and will never forget some of the things I learned from him. I used information in his class when I was teaching. He is definitely an inspiration with lasting influence. CW

I definitely don't recommend taking this class with Brown. He is a good guy, but the lectures are incredibly boring and so unorganized. Projects are an easy 100 if you just do them and turn them in. Tests are impossible no matter how much you study and he gives no review. Just study all the slides and hope you studied the right stuff.

Brock Brown, while he is a kind man with quite a bit of knowledge, doesn't seem to quite blend his teaching techniques with this examinations. I mean this in the sense that he rambles often and it's difficult to sort through this text-heavy power points to study for the exams, which themselves are more of a test of how well you take tests.

I 've taken Brock for two classes now, Urban & Economic Geography. He takes attendance once a week usually. He assigns projects that are graded relatively easy as long as you complete them entirely. His tests are based off of powerpoint lectures that are scatterbrained and incoherent, so they can be tricky. If you're looking to learn, take Cooper.

Tests are quite difficult, but Prof Brown really does care about his students EVEN if you are not a Geography major. His 3 major projects through out the semester are insanely easy. People just don't do them so they end up with a bad grade. No homework, light reading but really no big deal. The tests kill you though.

Very eye-opening teacher. He applies the subject matter to everyday life. I was thoroughly impressed with both Dr. Brown and the class. If anyone is interested in Geography, take Brock Brown.

Brock is probably one of my favorite professors so far at Tx State. You can see that he really cares about geography and wants his students to care as well. The book we were assigned to read was really interesting and definitely helped you understand the subject better. His tests are difficult but he is really helpful if you go to his office.

Brock is such a cool teacher with a real desire to help his students. He makes lectures very interesting, and gives out random short in class writings to improve your grade. Projects are easy, but tests are IMPOSSIBLE no matter how much you study, as they are multiple choice A-G.

Very hard class the test had a-e choices!!! Even though I studied as much as possible still failed. Projects took forever. He is a very passionate professor but not a very good one.

Dr Brown makes Urban Geography very engaging although he focuses more on the changing urban landscape instead of current urban geography. His projects can be long & tedious but they're easy and straight forward. There are random in class writings and a weird grading system. His tests are A-G but they're doeable if you read his slides/go to class

2/3 of the semester talking about what we will eventually learn. his projects are tedious, and just busy work. They don't actually teach you anything. His tests don't make sense, but they can be super easy to take if you just reread questions and answers a couple times. The grading for the class is weird too.

Brown has a lot of energy during class which is great but the way he teaches is confusing. We got to the subject of Urban Geo in APRIL and semester ends in MAY. His tests are crazy hard (a-g multiple choice) and the projects take lots of time. Avoid him to keep your GPA high

I absolutely hate Brock Brown. He's apparently passionate, but he's also extremely condescending which is surprising because I've learned virtually nothing in his class as everything he says is common knowledge. His tests are absolutely ridiculous and the projects are tedious and contribute nothing as far as knowledge goes. 2/10

Projects are interesting but often vague and time consuming. Tests are difficult due to their abstract form and number of answer choices. Focus is more on how things change than actual Urban Geography, which I found disappointing. However Dr. Brown is very passionate and a great teacher, extremely intelligent, hilarious, and engaging.

This professor is clearly passionate about the topic. However, I found his lectures repetitive and often covering common knowledge or material I had studied in other classes. I spent $1000 in tuition to attend this course and was highly disappointed.

Great professor. Dr. Brown is really passionate about what he teaches and it's easy to get interested in what he's teaching because of the way he teaches. Be prepared, his tests involve a heavy amount of abstract thinking. Like most professors he has a pathological hatred of cell phones, and will not be afraid to embarrass you if you nod off. Take!

Excellent professor. Very high energy and passionate about what he teaches. Regularly asks for feedback so the course can be tailored to student interests and needs. Goes out of his way to get to know students. I definitely recommend his class - you'll learn a lot. (Well, he'll teach a lot, weather or not you learn it is up to you!)

Very enthusiastic professor who can make a very interesting topic even more interesting through his lecture. I love geography and I truly enjoyed his class. Yes, sometimes he can be a little rude to his students who don't pay attention, but overall he is a pretty nice and helpful guy. Highly recommend him and his class.

Awesome professor, he is the reason I am a geography major now. His class is challenging but so interesting it makes the material easy to learn. Attendance is not mandatory but he gives random quizzes.
