Most distinguished professor in Binghamton, and everyone in his class knows it. It's difficult for any of us to ask questions in class, as you always feel as if you're in the presence of God. My class in particular was too vast to be covered in lecture, so things were covered in wide strokes, but the reading makes up for it.

This Professor is not knowledgable in Religion and is extremely biased against Christian students. He does not teach facts rather his own misperception.

Most distinguished teacher at binghamton. However his head TA does the grading and hes pretty tough and unfair to be honest, so be careful. But the class and lectures are amazing. They are entertaining as well as interesting

Hands down the smartest professor (and person) I've ever meet. His lectures are VERY interesting and informative. He's a very accomplished man so he complements his lectures with personal stories and cool anecdotes. In conclusion, I'm honored and fortunate to have been taught by him.

Mazrui is extremely dedicated to this subject - his lectures can be especially dry and sometimes difficult to follow, but the topics discussed are really interesting and thoroughly covered, whether in class or through the textbooks... Mazrui is a passionate and knowledgable professor, but you must remember his head TA is mostly grading the class...

one of the worst classes i have ever taken. he wasn't even there half of the time, and we were instead lectured by his African grad students, who basically just repeated everything he had said in the previous class. he is extremely biased. can honestly say i did not learn anything that i didn't already know. don't take his classes! exams=easy.

Most distinguished professor at Binghamton, extremely knowledgeable and well respected in his field. Lectures can be a little long, but very interesting. Final and midterm were slightly difficult, but were graded easily. Mazrui is an adorable old man with a great sense of humor and love for teaching. Take his class if you can!

The best professor in BU. His lectures are interesting and he tells lots of jokes. There is no way that you will sleep in his class. Mid terms are also easy if you study. Just take any class with him and I'm sure you won't regret it

Very intellectual, very knowledgable. Don't bother taking if you're ignorant and don't care, because you don't deserve to learn from Professor Mazrui. One of the best professors at the university for a reason.

He is very knowledgeable and his lectures are organized and easy to follow, but very dry and sometimes boring. He tends to focus a lot on Islam/Arab culture when the class is supposed to incorporate all cultures. A little self-involved at times. Strict on attendance. Not a hard class overall. The most annoying thing about the class is his head TA.

Very respected for good reason. If you are not into politics or do not follow politics or history, you could get lost. If you want knowledge, take his class. If you're an ignorant prick with no intention of getting your head out of your ass, don't bother...

Well he doesnt assign reading so you use the books to study for the final. Mazrui wasnt going to give a final but Ostegard decided to so really the other instructors messed up my grade. It sucks because you dont really do any work till the end of the semester and your grade isnt based on much...I dont even think attendance counts although he takes!

Ali Mazrui was EXTREMELY liberal. He was liberal for liberalism's sake and overly politicized his classes. He knew nothing outside of his traditional subject area (which was??). He and Cornell West must have been brothers in a past life.

He speaks very fast and tends to favor students from private schools(gives them take-home exams). His lectures are very informative, but unorganized so it is very hard to take notes. I also do not care for the fact that he does not assign readings.
