2 papers, 1 Midterm, 1 Final. Readings from 2 textbooks. The Lecture handouts were posted online to print out if needed. A good Professor and really pushes Haitian history a lot whenever talking about slavery. Her favorite quote near the end of the semester was Vladimir Putin wanting to "Make Russia Great Again" - take it as you will. Good overall.

I give this professor a 2/5 due to how boring she is during her lectures. She also heavily forces her liberal political values down your throat no matter if you like it or not. If you are not a hard left wing liberal that's also a modern day feminist , then you will have some problems with this professor. Class is easy if you know some history.

Professor Sepinwall is amazing and a foundation in the History department. A must take for any History major. Too bad she is going on sabbatical after Spring 2016. Take any class that is offered when she is the Professor.

Dr. Sepinwall is amazing. Her class was interesting and she goes out of her way to connect with her students. The homework is usually just summaries of a short document. One (easy) essay. Allowed 3 absences. Take notes and read the documents bc they will help on the tests. The two tests are both short answer/essay format.

Attendance and active participation counts for a grade. I'm shy yet, I still participated because I wanted a good grade. Ended up receiving an A-with decent effort. Keep up with the work and you should have no problem. I felt, she was a lenient grader but an unorganized lecturer; somehow I learned a lot. I'd recommend her.

She imposes her personal preferences on students. If she wants to see you as a kid, she expects you to act like one and if you don't, she will make rude comments about you and even shooo you away. Her teaching abilities are excellent, but if she can't teach without patience and seeing others as individuals, she shouldn't be teaching. dont take her

By far the best History professor I have taken! She is excited about History and very polished on her material. Easy to talk to, extremely helpful, does not have an agenda to push like most CSUSM professors, nothing hidden on tests and she wants her students to excel and learn. Passionate about teaching History and very influential and helpful!

Easy class but felt like high school. Lectures were pointless and I got a B in the class after never reading the text assignments. Do the online homework & one essay assignment and you'll pass. Professor is passionate but constantly brags about her success. Time stands still in her classroom...

Overall the class was easy, homework out of the book every class. She reiterates herself a lot and asks rhetorical questions. Treated us like children and expected us to act differently. She's passionate but takes things too personally. Got an A but definitely not my favorite class.

This is a really easy class. She grades it like a high school class with checkmarks. There is one 2 page paper for the semester. She can be really annoying, but as long as you can tolerate that, its an easy A

I think Sepinwall is a great teacher. Passionate, which help learn any subject. Knows her****. Loves French history, uses multiple techniques to teach, the majority of the students enjoyed her class. Fair grader, and assigns a fair ammount of reading, little homework.

Professor Sepinwall is very smart. She has a true passion for history. She loves teaching, and you can really tell she truly cares about her students. The class is relatively easy; two papers (graded easily), one midterm (VERY easy), and the final... there's a few primary source analyses... that's about it. I enjoyed her class.

Great teacher. Keeps it light and funny, and doesn't get upset if you haven't read. Relates lectures to rappers and other musical artists such as Bob Dylan. You can get along by just showing up and listening to the lectures and taking notes, stopped reading after the midterm, and everything towards the end of the course was taught in high school.

She's very passionate about History. Class was not mandatory. She took attendance the first days of the semester. Read the material assigned and you should do fine before the midterm and final. 2 papers were assigned. 2 tests. Her lectures are good notes for the test, she passes out lecture handouts every time.

She is a great prof. I took her last semester and I learned tons of fascinating things. She is very passionate about Henri Gregoire, and you will know who he is when you are done with her class. She makes history interesting to study (which is really difficult). Her vibrant personality makes the class time go by quickly. Highly recommended.
