Amanda Roberts is the BEST professor I have EVER had! Somehow she manages to do it all - the lectures and readings contain interesting and relevant material, she is funny and hilarious and entertaining, and she manages to be extremely personable with her students, given the enormous size of her classes. If you are at UCSD she is not to be missed!

I took this class thinking I'd get an easy A. I studied my butt off and ended up with a B, albeit I never attended class and studied off of purchased lecture notes. Nevertheless, this class was not all that it's hyped up to be. Take her if you really need to but I'd think twice if you're a perfectionist. Her test questions can be tricky.

DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. All of her classes are run the same way. No textbook (or one that is used for one question on the test, literally), and only 2 tests to be graded on. Each question on the test is worth 1% of your final grade, and there is only 1 single point of EC available. If you're interested in the class, crash it, DON'T TAKE IT,

I took her for Eating Disorders and am currently taking her for Human Sexuality. Tests are extremely straightforward. As long as your go over your notes RIGHT BEFORE the exams, you'll do fine! For the final, I read my notes over only about 3-4 times, and I got an A. I was finished in 45 mins!

good prof on the whole. I got really pissed when, after the class was over, she changed the curve from 88% being an A to a 90% being an A, screwing me out of my grade. So, remember "optional extra credit" isnt really optional when the whole class does it and she re-curves the class because of it.

Professor Roberts is AMAZING. I've taken Parenting, as well as Human Sexuality with her and she is just fantastic! Her lectures are really interesting because of her crazy stories and antics. But, I must admit that writing papers in parenting was kind of tedious and frustrating.

The class was interesting.I don't know how relevant it is to actual psychology, but it was easy, nonetheless.no textbook, just multiple choice tests and writing assignments. The writing assignments were a pain in the butt, but overall, the class was very easy. just pay attention in lecture.take good notes! Overall: interesting class, useless topic

After taking amazing psych professors who knew their material inside and out and were organized, eloquent, engaging, intelligent, and there to teach (not to impart personal objectives or justify their own life choices), Roberts is a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. A degrading, uninspiring class.

I took Dr Roberts for both Eating Disorders and Human Sexuality. Her classes are not what they are hyped up to be... Lots of overlearned information makes it boring quick. Nevertheless, she is an amazing lecturer and a even more admirable person. GO TO CLASS!!! she's funny. oh and read carefully. Don't over analyze the tests Qs.

Great prof. with sense of humor: keeps you interested. I didn't like the material she presented to the class...could have focused on more pertinent & public interest issues of parenting. You have an assignment (from 2-5 pages) once a week that is due at the end of quarter (no final and 2 MC midterms). exams are super easy if you go to lecture.

There is no textbook required, and listening to the lectures, and taking the notes can only be done. However, she says a lot of info in between the lecture slides which appear on the midterms. Overall a good class, lots of information, but really have to keep up with her lectures and its pace.

the class is suppose to be filled with fun and other things but it wasn't. she tells funny stories, but a majority of the time its a bunch of "facts" that u have to accept as truth and lots of biology. the class is harder than previous years and there were a lot of B's and c's. overrated class, but its not too bad.

This class was VERY interesting and very informative. She talks about all aspects of sex: positions, abstinence, infections, and the psychological damage from sexual abnormality. Lecture is very easy to follow, the text is easy to read, and the tests are representative of the material. GREAT class!

No text book required. Just go to class, pay attention, do the assignments, and it's an easy A, unless you don't like going to class. Biggest pain is you have to hand-write your assignments. Other than that, class is easy, and I thought it was fun. Just a class on practical information that you can actually USE some day if you want to be a parent.

Parenting Psych class... 1st time taught at ucsd so it is still fairly new. She was learnign and creating the course as we went along. Overall I enjoyed it. I would have preferred to be able to type the portfolio assignments; would have made it much easier. The in-class panel we had was awesome.
