Personally I am very disappointed in the class because we were not graded on how we could draw accurately, rather by how well we could put imaginary lines in our drawings and how well we could apply clay to a manakin which has nothing to do with drawing but rather has to do with memorizing the muscles and sculpting this was a wasted credit very mad

Amy is one of the best teachers I had in undergrad. She is a difficult grader, but she also makes the directions really explicit. If you show up to class and are committed to the work, you drawing skills will greatly improve from having her. I thought I knew how to draw before I had her class, but I was so wrong. She's the master.

Amy is one of the most helpful, talented, and dedicated teachers I've ever had. She often pushes you to do things you wouldn't normally do (in a good way) and is extremely insightful. She's sometimes spacy, but it's more endearing than annoying. I retained more from her class than most classes I've taken in college.

As far as outside of class work I think Amy's assignments have changed a lot since the past reviews. There was a weekly blog and a skeleton with clay muscles. She is helpful, friendly, and extremely passionate about drawing. Got me to fall in love with life drawing. If you're interested, take the class, but she is a tough grader just fyi.

I took Amy for Life Drawing. She was lazy and never gave us a grade until after the last day of class. She also never bothered to let you know how you were doing except with vague answers. She also was unable to find models for roughly half the class periods. She knew a lot about the body but 95% of it was useless. Do NOT take this class

Amy is a really nice person to talk to in and out of class. She assigns a lot of work, and expects a lot out of her students, so dont take this class unless you are ready for the work load. She knows her stuff, and I learned a lot. She wasnt very clear on a lot of stuff, she doesnt mind.

She is a difficult teacher, but I learned a lot from the class. It is tough, and she expects a lot- but it is worth it in the end. Don't take thsi class if you aren't interested, and just looking for the credit.

Do not take during a busy semester! You do a HELL of a lot in her class. You watch classic videos of another professor teach, OUTSIDE of class. Along with drawing homework to practice techniques every few weeks. Plus throughout the semester you put clay muscles on a skeleton. I named mine Barey.

Very hard grader- does not grade too often during the semester. Assigned too many things right at the end of the semester. used old vhs's to teach Not very good about holding class for the assigned time. I would NOT recommend her-- too bad she's currently the only one teaching life drawing

She seems to know what she is talking about but she doesn't seem to care to teach - her life outside of class has consumed her - also she says if you improve she will take that into consideration for grading but she does not - she is hard to please and does not clarify things well.
