Amy Guggenheim clearly knows a lot about film and is very passionate. I didn't enjoy all, actually many, of the films we watched. There is little variety and a lot of Asian culture focused cinema. She does want you to write but rarely collects it. For our final we had to make a very short film which was actually pretty fun.

Amy is fair, passionate and tries to guide each class but not dictate. She is a giver and yet not there to baby uninterested students. She gets you out into the theatre scene to judge for yourself what it is all about.

She is interested in the most mind numbing kind of theater there is--abstract, and to be honest she hardly even knows anything about that. She is ignorant and boring and completely absurd in the worst kind of way. She makes you get up and act like different literary characters and you have no choice. I would not recommend her to my worst enemy.

I don't agree with most of the comments here; she is inspiring because she obviously takes her work and most things very seriously. i can't say that for most prof's i've had. and she is very intersting to talk to, knows about diverse subjects more than most.

So she's nuts, in our line of work, that happens to be an asset... most sane people have pretty passionless art. Also, most English classes are dead boring, hers isn't. Amy is not everyone's cuppa tea but she is still undeniably cool.
