She is the best, and she respects everyone's thought even though you only know a little about Asian Arts. Exams are not difficult if you go to every class and take note, but it does require a good memory. You should take her class if you really want to learn something about Chinese art.

Sweet teacher who knows what she's talking about. I personally did not enjoy the class after a few weeks because I realized I was not as interested in Asian art as I once thought - memorization became much of a nuisance for me. If you have a great memory and enjoy Asian art, you will love this class. Attendance not mandatory, but you should go.

Honestly she was probably the best professor I've had yet at KU. very engaging and definitely knows her stuff. I am an art history major and she seems to be as good as it gets when it comes to being fair for tests, etc. she also has a great sense of humor, so even though not all lectures are mandatory, you will wanna go.

I took Medieval Chinese Art with Amy and she is amazing. She is outgoing, very educated, and passionate about her subject. She takes everyone's opinions into account with a lot of respect. She is so enthusiastic and interesting! Make sure you go to class and do the readings though. Can't slack off in art history really.

Make sure you attend discussion for easy points, especially before an exam. They make a power point that has all the exam material. Attend lectures to take notes for essay questions, otherwise just write a lot and sound like you know what you're talking about.

Loved going to class, she basically lays out exactly what will be on the exams with her lectures. Pay attention to the lists she gives you, they are guaranteed test questions. Go to the discussion for the free points. Basically, just attend class and you can't get anything lower than a C.

As of '10, she no longer uses textbooks. Art History as a subject has a lot of pointless memorization- so if you can't handle that, don't take the course and blame it on her. She's a great and engaging teacher. She knows her subject well, and loves talking about it.

I took her Early Chinese Art class. Going into it had very little interest in the subject (despite being an HA major) but her enthusiasm is contagious. She's an engaging and entertaining teacher. I would recommend her to anyone.

I think she is very informative and knowledgable. With her there is not wrong or right answer, basically if you at least explain your opinion she will accept it. She's upbeat, interesting and laidback. She's willing to work with you and your schedule, problems etc...If you have to take an art history class I would recommend her.

This is a very large lecture class where GTAs teach the discussion groups. Prof. McNair has a friendly and outgoing personality. She is not snobby or too academic. She tries to make the lectures as informative and interesting as possible. I appreciate Asian Art and the KU Art History department more than I did before the class.
