Good teacher overall. If you show up to class and take notes you'll be fine. But if you don't go to class, you won't do well on the tests. He's helpful though, if you at least pretend to show any interest in the class.

Par the course for Tech & Civ teachers it seems, he's a nice guy who is knowledgeable and really helps you understand it. The weekly lecture quizzes are graded tough, as are the tests, but he does give you a study guide which helps out tremendously and takes the guesswork out of test prep. He has a sense of humor and his hair is never out of place.

Love him! Make sure you read the book (which is only a few pages for each reading). His tests aren't bad, mostly just vocab and what the thesis was for the readings. His lectures are interesting.

Proffesor Baird is an overall, great teacher. The tests are exactly what he teaches and goes over in the class. Be sure to pay attention and take notes as he tends to choose the small things within his letctures. Going to his office before tests helps alot as well. Be sure to take those lecture quizes though.

Tech & Civ is just a bad class and I'm shooting the messenger on this one. I did not go to class very much but attended every lecture. I pulled a C out by studying pretty hard for the final. The class just sucks, but Baird is a decent teacher.

Don't listen to these idiots saying not to take this guy. Baird is out to teach you, he just puts you in a position to work for it. If you want an easy A, go elsewhere. If you want to come to a class uninterested and leave intrigued (and crack all the jokes you want), then take Baird.

Tests are hard! Clarity of what he expects is very hard to understand. When taking a test you may write everything you know and it is still wrong. Mandatory quiz once a week. I would suggest changing professors if you do bad on the quizzes, those grades correlate to your test grades. Do everything he says and you will be OK.

Real great guy, fun to have a class with. His test are hard, and he does grade hard, but the test is given to you a week before, word for word. All it takes is some effort to do good in his class.

Really great guy. Monday lectures get tedious, but in class is pretty decent. He cracks jokes and is pretty comfortable with the students. Anybody that moves a test so we don't have it the day after Halloween is okay by me. Tests are hard, but he gives you the questions beforehand so with some work it's not hard to get an A.

DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. It doesnt matter if you go to class every day, take all the quizzes, do the extra credit, go to the study sessions, laugh at his jokes, ask questions, HE WILL STILL FAIL YOU. i'm serious. take a teacher who WANTS students to learn.

Baird is a great teacher. He tells you the test questions, and as long as you have put some effort into it, if you go to him with questions, he will help you a lot and tell you what he wants. He likes people to ask questions and come to his office. His class is interesting and he is open to other opinions, unlike some other Tech & Civ professors.

Do not take this man! Do not. I went to class everyday, went to see him in his office, and went to his study sessions, but it didn't help. He tries to make his test impossibly hard, and finds mistakes with everything you write. Change your professor NOW!! Don't let what happened to me, happen to you.

His lectures are interesting some times even though they can get repetitive. He's kind of a smart-ass to students and he wonders why a lot of people don't answer his questions. He gives you the questions to the test before hand...theres really no reason you should do that bad in this class just make sure you go to class and take the online quizzes.

the class was mind numbingly dull, he never lets you out of class early sometimes he runs over the time. Its not hard to make an A once you understand how to take notes or get the SI people to email them. You never really need the book I just used wikipedia.com for all the terms on the study guide I didn't know and ended up with a 99 on a test.

had him last semester for world history 1 and i have him again for world history 2. Pays off to come to class and take notes. I studied the night before on all his tests and have made As on most of them. Most ppl take too many irrelevant notes, his class is easy once you know what to write down

This class is not easy and its not hard. You have to have a quick hand and be able to abbreviate your notes a lot because he talks fast and goes through his slides really fast. Studying weeks before the test is a great idea and your gonna take this class on. You really can't **** your way through this class.
