Dr. Cayton is by far one of the best professors I have had at Miami. Passionate doesn't even begin to describe how much he loves his job. Energetic and enthusiastic. This class is very straightforward with two mid-terms and final which are easy so long as you stud. Dr. Cayton is leaving Miami after this semester; glad I got to enjoy his classes.

He's an energetic and fun guy but don't take this class. It's hard to get a good grade because all of his GAs suck. The exams are a terrible format and you have to write papers that are graded really inconsistently. Unless history is really your thing, stay away from this course. Nothing against Dr. Cayton though, he seems like a cool guy.

I took this class expecting it to be easy just like all the history classes in high school. It is definitely not like that. Because of this class I will never take a history class at Miami again. The class consist of him talking the whole time then when it comes time for the exams he just has you define 6 terms and write a paper that isn't relevant

Not an easy class, but wow. Most teachers are intelligent, but this guy is just brilliant. And captivating. He rattles off all of this information without a pause to think and he makes everything so damn interesting. Definitely take him if you want to be amazed. Just... wow.

One of the best professors I have had so far. He is very enthusiastic and enjoys teaching. Coming to class is important and so is attending sections with a TA. I took his 111 class and ended with a 93 and 198 will be about the same

Hands down best prof at Miami. Came to class with an energy that is unparalleled. Went to office hours twice and still remembers me on campus. Class even had 200 people in it. Grade based off of three papers and a section course taught by TA once a week. Very easy, wrote paper in one night never received any thing lower than an A.

Dr. Cayton is an amazing professor. He is really enthusiatic about history and he really allows you a more in depth view of what history is. You are engaged. You will not fall asleep. You will be excited about going to lectures. I wish he could teach all of my classes.

Honestly, best professor I've had at Miami so far. He is so helpful if you go to his office hours, and makes history actually interesting. Great guy, always makes jokes at the beginning of class. Does a great job of clarifying important topics and themes. Very approachable in office hours, I would definitely recommend this class.
