I loved Dr Rancer ! My favorite professor at UA by far !! He is so funny, and even though stats can be hard, he makes it doable (I fear math). He offers tons of extra credit, exams are open note, use his study guides. How teaching style is funny & he is such a cool guy. Grateful to have been able to take him. Love him, take him !!!

Comment:

Andrew Rancer is the crowning jewel of the University of Akron. He has his quirks but those are what makes him so special and weird. He prepares you to pass as long as you care enough to download the study guide. If you have the option to take him please do.

Comment:

Mr. Rancer was by far the best professor I have had so far at Akron. He takes somewhat dry material and makes it interesting. He is extremely funny and does a great job at relating the material to real life experiences. His study guides match the tests almost exactly and he does a great job answering questions. I thoroughly enjoyed his class.

Comment:

Every class taught by this professor offers an easy A, but there really is nobody quite like Rancer. That isn't necessarily a positive. His narcissistic tendencies take away from the quality of the lecture, and class is frequently interrupted as he "calls out" intelligent students that are actually taking notes.

Comment:

Rancer is one of the best teachers I've ever had. His lectures are engaging and funny and he really wants his students to do well. Be prepared to participate in class, but as long as you show up and pay attention you're pretty much guaranteed an A. You really don't even need the textbook (even though he'll say you do). USE THE STUDY GUIDES & pass.

Rancer is the BEST! He's absolutely hysterical and his tests are the easiest thing ever; his study guides are on point. You actually learn in his classes without being stressed. I've had him several times and I've never gotten anything lower than an A+. Always take him if you have the chance. He's a real gem & I hope UA doesn't screw up & lose him.

He's a great man and obviously cares about his students, tests are online with amazing study guides. The one thing that drove me crazy was he interrupts you 99% of the time, he would ask me a question in class and rarely would I finish the first sentence of my answer before he'd cut me off. He does this to every one though :/ Still is a great guy!

Dr. Rancer has hands down been the BEST professor I've had at The University of Akron. His lectures keep you entertained and engaged and he actually makes learning enjoyable. He only has 3 2-page papers with the last being optional if you do good on exams. TAKE HIS CLASS

Dr. Rancer is an amazing professor. He is very enthusiastic, which makes his class interesting. He cares about his students and takes pride in his work. Definitely one of the best professors I've had. I would highly recommend taking his class. Just a couple papers and tests taken online. He gives a detailed study guide, so the tests are an easy A.

With Dr. Rancer, participation matters. It is not optional, and he chooses when you participate. If you are quiet, taking notes, or doing anything he considers to be "distracting," he will call you out, force participation, and insult you. His mannerisms come across as rude, condescending, and narcissistic. Not recommended.

Definitely one of the hidden gems at Akron. Enjoyed his class immensely. Breaks up the monotony of a lecture with videos pertaining to the subject. Very funny and likes playing to the crowd. Great Prof!

Professor Rancer helped make the lectures fun and entertaining. I loved that he engaged the class and always wanted to evoke emotion out of the students. He applied the lectures to real life situations, which definitely made it worth coming to class for! Being a senior in college, so far, he has been one of my favorites.

Only Dr. Rancer could make Communication Research enjoyable. He is energetic and eager to help everyone learn. He did assign a project at the very end of the semester that could have been explained better, since no one knew how to use the software, but I would definitely take him again. Amazing professor.

Rancer is the funniest professor ever! Be prepared for him to sing and dance in class to keep it active and awake! He prepares you for tests and his study guides are the best! I've had him for three classes now and have never gotten lower than an A. Highly recommended and hilarous, just don't miss class, or fall asleep, or text, and you'll be good!

Took Non-verbal Communication in the summer. Rancer is hilarious! The class was super interesting. Alot of group activities and videos during class. His powerpoints corresponded to the study guides which were what was exactly on the test. You'll regret not taking him!!!

This class was at first very intimidating because all you do is give two training presentations and a paper at the end and attendance. He is very helpful if you ask for it. He is one of my favorite professors at Akron.

Dr. Rancer keeps the class entertaining throughout the whole semester. He can come off a little strong, but you get used to him. Super nice, fun class, makes it easy to learn and makes you want to learn. Get the book! It's very helpful for his tests!

He makes you want to come to class and makes the material fun and always relates it back to real life situations. One of the funniest professors I've had. He is an overall good guy and very knowledgeable in the field. Highly recommend taking his classes.
