Comment:
He is very unclear in his expectations for the class. He will often change what requirements will be for tests and papers within 48 hours. He will say he is available after class to look over assignments or to help students, but will not show up. Would not recommend taking this as a capstone course. The class is more stressful than its worth.

Dr. Storfer was clear, funny and tried SO hard to make the class relevant to the real world and our daily lives instead of one where we just learn to forget. In turn, he expects hard work & respect which many had issues with. He cares about his students too... I ran into him 2 years later and he not only remembered me but asked how my classes are.

Agreed the tests are really tough. Multiple choice and usually two of the options seem exactly the same. He gives homework which is online - pretty simple and can guess till you get it right for full credit. Participation does count in lecture because you will use learning catalytics which he can track if you showed up through your student ID

If I were you, take this class somewhere else or with a different professor. It is not worth your time! Exams dominate your grade and are INSANELY difficult. I have done every single assignment and have participated and still having a tough time passing this class. I made an appointment with him and did not show up. He emailed me saying he forgot!

Completely unhelpful, tried to email him and he would take forever and only respond with a couple words.

I go to class everyday even though the lectures are posted online.I don't even use the book. The tests are extremely hard even though they are based off lectures. Test average with a curve is 59%. I wonder how many people fail this class from looking at the test averages.

Exams were difficult but he curved them a lot. There was a lot of information in lecture and he went a little too quickly over things for my liking. Labs are simple and you are usually out in an hour. One time we had to stay the full three hours. I rarely looked the book and got a B, so an A is definitely not impossible. Easy labs!

Good lecturer, but some of the most insane tests I've ever taken. Many of the questions could be answered with 2+ of the possible answers. You need luck to get an A in this class.

Lectures are kept interesting, but my main qualm with Dr. Storfer is that he, at least this semester (Spring 2012), has expected quite a bit from non-bio majors. I haven't skipped a single class, I study, haven't missed a homework assignment, and I still don't have more than a B.

Worst teacher I have ever had. I'm sitting in his class right now and I want to shoot myself. He is terrible at explaining any concepts. His tests are ridiculous, the average was a 64 (with the curve). He is terrible. NEVER take this class. He doesn't understand that this is a GER class, NOT a science major class.

He knows his Biology but expects to much from students in a GER non-major class. The tests are insane no matter how much you try and study for them the study guide makes the test look easy and that's an understatement. If you are taking this class good luck, you're going to need it.

Pretty entertaining. Even at 8am. After studying for exams, the study guides kind of underestimate the tests.

This guy can be really unforgiving if you get on his nerves but if you stay out of his way and act nonthreatening he's pretty cool. He yelled at me for trying to finish my scan tron at an exam, other profs were nicer in the same situation. Otherwise he's a solid teacher and teaches a great and fun class.

Bio 102: This is supposed to be a non-major bio course and he expects us to know so much. The exams are crazy hard and I don't see why there are so many exams when it's a non-major course. He is a nice person and can be funny to lighten the mood during class, but he expects too much from a NON-MAJOR biology class.

If you have another option for a professor for this class definitely take it. This was probably the worst professor I've had at WSU. I had to re-teach myself everything and the study guides he provided made the tests seem like they would be much easier than they actually were. It is possible to get an A, but requires A LOT of studying.

Hard to think of something good to say about him. Tests are hard, and have nothing to do with the study guides he makes. He uses class as aplatform to crusade about global warming and AIDS; I don't think a day can go by without mentioning one or the other. He has "2 rules," and is constantly reminding the class of them.

BEST TEACHER EVER! His lectures are great and he is absolutely hilarious! His tests can be hard, but the TA's really, REALLY help you. Labs are fun and don't take longer than an hour and a half. His lecture notes are online and he posts study guides to help you for the exams. Quick at getting grades back too! He is great!
