Comment:
Lectures were very technical and not explained well at all, very arrogant professor that doesn't like to answer questions he 'thinks' he explained well in lecture. Earned 85% of possible points and gave me a C because of the way he curves. Told me I wouldn't understand how he curves.

His grading was harsh, I did the equations right but got the final answer wrong which made me lose 90% points of that problem. If you want to ask questions go to anybody esle except him, he would just tell you "go through the notes" in stead of listening to your own problems.

He does post all the lectures online which is a big help when studying and doing homework. Being able to retake the tests 3 times also is a big help. This class was pretty easy, but you do want to go to most of the lectures!!

He doesnt give much detail explanations or examlpes in class. He never makes appointments outside his office hours. He posted all the materials and go to classes, that's all. He doesn't really care about his students at all. I was very interested in Stac before taking his class, but now I don't know any more.

Good professor. He posts all his lectures online (including audio files of the actual lecture). He is always on AIM and will answer just about all questions on the homework. The class gets a lot harder near the end comparitavely and he doesnt give you formulas, but besides that, he's a good probability professor.

Swift's lectures are filled with confusing math and not enough examples. Gives very little partial credit, does not give formulas on test, Quizzes every week are 10% of the grade, and are graded harshly. Although he is easy to get a hold of on the internet or email, I would not have taken this class w/ swift if i knew.

Good, funny professor. Semi-difficult class, but he helps a lot. We handed in one report full of mocks and jokes, and we got an A because of it. Swifty is good.

He was just average. He read verbatim off power point slides, which is obviously extremely boring, but the course was pretty organized.

While Probability can't be taught without a bit of ambiguity, Professor Swift manages to convolute theories taken directly from the book. As someone said before, take him for Calc but avoid him like the plague for Statistics or Probability.

He teaches a class that most people will hate anyway, so give him some slack. He does better then most could have, and I would prefer him teaching it over most of my other profs. He knows what he's talking about.

Professor Swift does an excellent job. People just need to understand that random statistics and probability aren't the sort of topics that can easily be tought without a bit of ambiguity. He is very good at what he teaches.

Professor Swift was at times ambiguous and boring, but he was incredibly helpful when I went to his office hours to ask about the homework. Overall, a pretty good professor, but was quite a bit of work.

Andrew Swift has skillfully mastered the fine art of boring and confusing a classroom full of intelligent, hard working students by means of ambiguous power point slides and an appalling lack of any sort of helpful examples. Statistics was a very disappointing experience.

I already learned the material in high school, so I was in a position to judge how poorly he explained what should be easy concepts. 2nd worst teacher I've had at WPI, after Pasca, who was fired. Don't take him for stats.

Made easy concepts difficult, unclear, only used powerpoint slides, most of which were straight out of the book. In the past I have never fallen asleep during classes, but I fell asleep in his class almost every day. The guy is boring and a complete tool. Only good thing- lots of email updates.

He makes the easiest concepts seem impossible and by doing this puts a confused class to sleep daily. I say to myself often as I get lost in his mumbling, "Ill teach myself this later." Aweful teacher! Our class average is a 68 and a good number of us will fail. Damn you Swift!

This is the WORST class I've ever taken. I hated it, the material wasn't great, but I could understand it better after reading the textbook...he gives 0 examples,****ty homework assignments, and even if you go to lecture, you won't know what you're doing. The class average for the midterm was 64...

Lets just put it this way concise is not his middle name, the man drowns himself in ambiguity. The material isn't that bad, but his presentation of it, would make it seem like greek. His rambling and slurred speach due to his accent create a great atmosphere for sleep.
