Comment:
Barth is a very smart and intellectual man, but I think he has trouble translating it into successful teaching because he is a shy man. No one could ever doubt that he knows his stuff, but he presents in a massive way, assuming everyone knows stuff that most people don't, and does not tell you what he will expect on the exams/projects. Not good.

Comment:
The best worst teacher I have ever had. Very knowledgeable about Petrology but makes you come to him for advice if you want the necessary info to do well. Otherwise you're left in the dark. Doesnt explain what he wants from you. Office hours are beneficial. Grades work very carelessly. Sometimes rude. Would avoid him in the future as my teacher.

I had Andy for a lot of my upper level geology courses. He's a nice guy and he's generally very helpful if you have questions. It's sometimes difficult to get him to tell you what his expectations are for assignments; he can be very vague sometimes. His lectures are very good and will not bore you to death.

This professor is very helpful, mostly when you ask him questions. If you don't ask questions, you will be left in the dark. His class is difficult, but he grades fair.
