Dr. Jorgensen is an awesome professor. Highly intelligent and passionate about what he's teaching. He's flexible and understanding if you have issues that arise. I wish I could take more classes with him!

Jorgensen is a tough professor but he is very clear on what he expects to be done in order to recieve a good grade. I got a B in his class and honestly I didn't get the best grades on his tests I averaged about C's on the tests because their hard. However Aleks and the recitation grade really helped my grade out so do the homework go to recitation.

This class was the most difficult class I've ever taken. Lectures can be confusing so you have to read a lot and go to office hours. I learned more from the book & ALEKS than lecture. I wouldn't recommend him, but most people in our class got a C or above, so it's not a "weed out" class despite what a lot think. It's really hard but doable.

People don't like him because he expects work to be done outside of class. Show up to recitation and do ALEKS for an easy 200 points. He gives old exams which are almost identical to the exams we took. Chem 1 is a class that requires actual studying, which some people struggle to understand.

Jorgiepoo is a great prof but a little tough, especially if you are taking him freshman year. He really knows his stuff but he can also be tough on you because of it. Be sure to do the past exams and you will do fine on the exams.

He seems to be somewhat condescending because he has a Ph.D. He knows the material very well but his lectures tend to be boring (to be fair I'm not that interested in chemistry). It gets annoying when he makes snide political remarks in a chemistry class... leave that B.S. for humanities professors.

He's not helpful at all and expects you to have learned most of the material before even entering the class. His writing is barely readable and expects you to fill in the notes before class, doesn't do many practice problems, it's basically a self taught class. He was a horrible prof. If you don't have an extensive chem background do not take him.

The test were unfairly hard compared to the other professors'. He doesn't care about your grade. At least he tries to help.

Jorgensen made this class challenging, but I learned a lot. He is very good about answering questions online and in class. Plus he tries to start his lectures with a little bit of chemistry humor which is appreciated.

I found this class to be extremely difficult. He expects you to have prior knowledge on how to do chemistry. Unless you have had Chemistry in high school you will struggle. I did not have any chemistry classes and found the course to be my hardest class of this semester. He likes to often make trick questions worth the most points on exams.

Homework is assigned every week. Tests are difficult and he likes to add trick questions so beware. Clicker points and writing assignments are essential to boost your grade. Offers extra credit for visiting speakers. Gives lecture outlines to follow in class. Difficult class and you need to do all your work and then some to get an A.

Everyone saying that he is a "bad" professor is being unfair. He is difficult, not hard. There is a difference. Be prepared to read before class and study for exams. He is very clear on his policies and what to expect on exams. All questions on exams will come from homework and old exams so you can't really be surprised.

You have to actually pay attention in class otherwise your not gonna get far in this class. Most of what he repeats in lecture is on the exam, his exams are difficult, but he likes to push his students. the text is very helpful. If you are looking to put the least amount of effort in don't take this class. take if you want to remember the info.

Worst professor I've had in college. If you have the option to take someone else's class, do it. He is lazy and is more concerned about his research than the subject material he is supposed to be teaching. Makes trick questions on exams and expects a ridiculous amount of time from his students when he doesn't seem to put much time into the course.

He is a horrible professor. He does not explain anything and expects that you already know a lot of chemistry. He acts like it is super easy and expects notes to be done before class. I took 2 chemistry classes in high school and got good grades with no effort and failed 3 out of 4 of his exams even though I studied a lot.

While this class is difficult, a good grade can be achieved. The tests require a lot of studying beforehand, but you can be successful if you REALLY WORK AT IT. Depending on how you learn, attending class might not help. It's not a class to take lightly. Always answers questions or tells you where to look if you're prompt.

jorgsensen is by far the worst professor that UT has. he fails a ton of his students and chemistry is a hard subject as it is,it is made 100x harder by him. class averages were in the high40s/low 50s. AVOID HIM. not worth it

He is an alright professor who definitely knows what he is talking about. Gives quite a bit of online homework, which can be frustrating at times but just find people or email him. His tests can be tough sometimes really tricky so study a lot before. He gives you notes for class so fill in what you know that's in the book before attending class.

He is very smart, but is not helpful at all. Tons of students struggle, but he blames it on over-confidence. He fails to realize that it's because he mentions what we should have taught ourselves, rather than teaching it to us.
