Comment:

This class was hard and you need to put in the work. The teacher cared and listened to questions and adjusted the schedule so we had less chapters on exams. You need to go to class and labs. Labs are open book and come from her notes so you need to take good notes. Exams are harder.

Helped me see how to study. Showed me what I needed to do to pass the class and encouraged me. I passed the class but wish I had listened to her from the beginning of the semester.

Her teaching style sucks! She goes through PowerPoint so fast you can't keep up and then you will have a test like the next day when you don't know anything. She will then blame the students for doing bad. As a teacher if majority of your students are failing then maybe you're the problem. This isn't an easy class to but Porta makes it unbearable!

Stay far, far away from this woman. Absolutely horrible, the worst professor I have ever had at Kean. Claims that she wants to help but refuses to answer questions when asked in class, choosing to rather yell at student to pay attention more. Half my class dropped a month in. Isn't clear about grading, the schedule or whats on the tests.

Please, I ask please. As soon as you see this teacher on your schedule. Remove yourself from the class immediately , it is the best thing you can do. Coming from a student that was actually trying to do good. She teaches everyone as if they were Biology majors , Ridiculous !

She does know her subject but doesn't know how to teach. Doesn't explain anything in the class just goes over the slides which ate taken directly from the book. Practicals are hard and require to spend extra time in the lab. I didn't learn much. The class was stressful because of her poor teaching skills

Dr Porta is difficult but not impossible. You have to be able to put in the work and understand the material. If you stay on top of your work and you are motivated you should be ok. This is not an easy class. If you are lazy do not take at all it will be your worst nightmare. I personally thought she was a good instructor.

This professor is great! Yes, she is tough but you learn so much! She makes you understand all the material and labs. Take good notes...the exams are everything she teaches you. No tricks. Labs are fun! Make sure to read the labs before class. She is great!

I absolutely loved her! I took her for cell physiology and she was great! Her exams are open note/open PowerPoint. She doesn't take any sh*t but if you need help she's willing to give it to you. Loved the labs we preformed as well. Felt like I learned a lot in her class!!!

Her style of teaching is not extremely organized, but it isn't completely disorganized (if that makes sense)... In other words, her teaching isn't vey fluent, but it is no reason to fail the class. As long as you pay attention, write notes on the powerpoint slides and use the online study guides you should do very well. I received an A-. Loved A&P.

Porta's class definitely isn't easy. I ended up withdrawing form her course, not because I couldn't handle it, but because her style of teaching is insane. Something is seriously wrong when you start with a class of 30 & end with 17

Clearly that person who left feedback for that BIO4970 is Porta, because anybody in their right mind will say say she is by far the cancer of GPA's. I didnt listen either, Im thinking "ahh I'll do fine"...NO..NO..NO they were right. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nasty lady! shouldn't even have a teaching degree! The only useful thing she knows how to do is give F'S for people in her course! It's sad when 90% of her class either get D's or fail. The nastiest Biology professor at Kean University... she ignores people's emails asking for help. She shows up 15 min late to class and keeps you the 15 min that she took of your time. she refuses to give extra credit.. She refuses to curve any grade ... I was warned but I decided to not listen.. Please listen ..Porta will hurt your GPA.

Porta should go down in the Teachers Hall of Shame! She is the worst bio professor at KU. She has the worst attitude and refuses to give any extra help she should stick to what knows best and that is RESEARCH and just retire from teaching.I mean if you have a class of 48 in the start of the semester with only 20 remaining that says a lot.

Class was difficult,because it needs lots of dedication and memorization.She isn't to nice to does that show her no interest on the subject or DON'T make an effort to improve their grades.She is very helpful and concerned for the success of her students.If anyone didn?t pass the class with outstanding grades, surely wasn?t the professor fault.
