She is kind & very passionate about what she is teaching. Took as a night class and it never lasted the full time. You get 5pts a week just for showing up, the whole class isn't worth many points. 2 tests (midterm & final) along with 5, 1 page, reading responses to children's chapter books. She doesn't use Blackboard but gives grades back in class.

I loved this class. You have around 280 points for the whole semester but you get 5 points just for showing up every week. I took it at night and she never went the full 3 hours. The books you read after midterm are a lot of fun and you don't have to read the chapters before class because she just flips through the book to lecture.

As long as you do the homework assignments and papers (there are 4) and show up to turn them in you will do fine. There are no tests and no final. Rivera is nice and understanding. I'm glad I was able to take her class!

She is an awesome professor. She wants you to learn how to write your way, to where it benefits you the most. Easy grader and is very helpful. Plus the best part is class usually only lasts around 20 minutes

She was a pretty boring teacher but I have not gotten a good grade because I did not do well on the midterm (worth 50 points) and there was only around 100 points in the class. I would not recommend ever taking her.

Her class is real easy. Her lectures lasts anywhere from 10 minutes to whole class. First half of semester usually takes longer but second half she mainly comes and talks about papers and next class period. Her homework is easy and so are her essays. You cannot miss a lot of class or she docks your grade. I got a C+ because I slacked a little.

Children's Lit. Pretty boring class. It was a night class, and it really droned on. She is super nice, and a good teacher, though. Class is easy -- just read the books and do some reading responses on them, and the midterm and final is easy. Show up to class and take notes, I never opened the book and got an A.

class is slow and boring but if you take the night class you are there for an hour and a half at the most. Gives out reading assignmentts on top of papers to help give you more points. Go to class and do the homework and you will be fine.

Really nice lady and an easy class. Class is pretty boring, but you get 2 points every day for attendance. Tests are a breeze and you have to write 4 20-point reading responses, which are easy as well. If you like to read (or just want an easy class), take her!

I think she is a nice person, but if I am paying $1000+ a semester, she should know more than I do. Answers to questions are met with "I don't know"....what? she does not have lectures prepared, waits on us to start lecture. I thought she picked the material?? Seems she should know more about it than the students.

She is great!! She's friendly and cheery, very helpful. She teaches such broad variety and makes the boring stuff interesting. She really cares about her students. Homework is fair, tests are not crazy hard. Go to class, do the reading, and youre golden :)

She is a very good teacher with a lot of knowledged about childrens literature. Attendance is necessary, she gives quizzes after the your class break so she makes sure you come back. Her tests are easy and the quizzes are way easy! Overall, I would recommend this class to anyone. Plus, you never go the full three hours!

This class was extremely easy! We had to read a children's book each week & write 1 page summary on it- so easy- i just did spark notes on all of the books & got an A on every paper! 2 exams (mid term and final) very easy, mostly terms, a little about the childrens books. She is very sweet and friendly- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I didn't want to take this class at all...I hated reading but it's really not difficult at all! I still don't like reading very much but she is a great teacher. Test are easy if you go to class and follow along in the book! assignment arent terrible overall I would take her again as a teacher! It was an easy A for me!
