Comment:
Good professor, a little boring at times in lecture. As long as you thoroughly read the textbook and memorize some definitions, class is passable with little work. There are two papers in the course that require some time and attention though.

During my undergrad I would specifically take courses that I knew Anissa was teaching. She is a great lecturer, she encourages discussion and in depth learning about the material. She encourages constructive feedback from students. Anissa is so wonderful!!

A very friendly prof, but the TA's are hard markers. Read the textbook because the assignments are solely based from the textbook. Final exam was fair.

A GREAT PROFESSOR. VERY HELPFUL, AND KIND-HEARTED. YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE TALKING TO A FRIEND RATHER THAN A PROFESSOR. AN EXCELLENT COURSE, WAS A LOT BETTER THAN WHAT I HAD IN MIND.

don't let her nice persona fool you, this teacher means business. she is one of the hardest markers i've ever encountered. she is extremely nice, helpful and approachable, yet i think she contradicts herself in marking which gets annoying. she's alright, not my favourite however.

Professor Talahite-Moodley is one of the most inspiration teachers I had at the University. She is extremely easy to approach, and is always willing to meet you for office hours.

Comment:
Aside from some a somewhat timid demeanor, Prof. Tal-Moodley is a great academic. She poses insightful comments, is open to class discussion (if not, too open) and is available to help at all stages. Some reviewers have noted her cycloptic focus on theory; I, however, enjoyed her theoretical lectures. Take her class, and listen (extra) carefully.

Despite previous comments, I found her lectures VERY clear and easy to follow. She's not an easy marker, but the courseload was pretty light and leasurely. I liked the in-depth analysis of all the books. This was one of my favourite classes.

Comment:
She is great in applying critical theories to the text-specifically psychoanalysis, post-colonolsim, and feminism. The problem: she doesn't make room for much more, and is not all that great in expressing herself clearly. So, unless you have some background knoweledge about those critical schools...you've been warned.

She's really insecure and mousey, but she knows what she's talking about, even if her delivery is very hesitant and unsure. However, she's really nice and great through email correspondence. Stick with her - she gets better.

Comment:
A fairly painful lecturer, always halting, and urging the students least inclined, or informed on the novels to participate. Wayyy too nice and easy in class in relation to her actual marking system, which seems to resist giving any marks higher than an 81, no matter the actual level of the work

What a mess! You have to feel sorry for the woman, she is really nice, but oy! She always seems distracted and will agree with any comment that is made. She always seems confused and insists on taking attendance promptly at the start of class, though there is often only a few there....

Wonderful, she is very organized and her summaries of each text using PowerPoint is helpful. It is easy to participate b/c she is so approachable. Her discussion of feminist perspectives was enlightening.

I spent six months of my life being totally disgusted by this woman's intellect and teaching skills. She's the worst - by a long shot.

Doesn't lecture at all so you learn nothing. Encourages discussion, but thereby discourages depth to maintain the "democracy" of the discussion. Will agree with you, no matter how stupid your comment.

She has an amazing ability to listen to a student and then summarize their thoughts by saying the EXACT OPPOSITE of what they mean.
