Prof Patterson is super sweet and willing to help you, but she does give painfully boring lectures. Papers are easy and she gives great feedback, plus the things she talks about are interesting if you can stay awake to hear them.

She is incredibly kind, very insightful, and she will help A LOT if you meet with her. The topics in the class are fairly straightforward, and you better read the books and come to class. But she doesn't stop talking!!!! She'll pose a question, but everyone is so disengaged from the conversation that there's long, awkward silence every single time.

Professor Patterson is by far the nicest professorperson ever! She is so pleasant, positive, enthusiastic, and helpful. She is always there to help, and always available to meet. She is passionate about her class and what she teaches which makes the class that much better. Lots of reading but they are interesting.

Dr. Patterson is helpful, kind, and a very good professor overall. She allows revisions in her ENG 220 class which I think really shows that she cares about us truly learning the material. The literature was interesting and her discussions were not dull when she very easily could have made them that way. You can tell she really enjoys teaching.

Prof. Patterson is awesome. I went in for office hours for every paper and she helped me really understand how to make my writing better. She practically wrote the topic sentences for my first paper. She's also a huge pushover, so you can get away with not reading or handing in assignments late. Super nice.

Professor Patterson is by far the best professor I have ever had. She's ridiculously insightful, interesting, and helpful. If you take an interest in the class you will do well without a problem. Going to her office hours will do wonders for your grade!

Great professor! Very helpful, a bit taught with grading but never unfair. Cares about her students and the material. Interesting but has a little trouble getting students involved during class. Never gives a very heavy workload but expects you to read carefully. Definitely worth taking a class with her.

Awesome teacher! She's so sweet and happy throughout the whole class. She is always available for office hours and is always helpful and encouraging. She's been probably my favorite at BU. Discussions were great and papers were graded medium/easy.

She is the sweetest lady and her lectures are very interesting. She has kind of a complicated system for grading, though. Sometimes, even in office hours, she isn't the most clear about what she actually wants in your paper, which is a little bit confusing. I really enjoyed the in-class discussions, but my grade did not exactly reflect that.

She is so sweet, helpful, and engaging. The readings are interesting and not unreasonably large. You work throughout the entire semester to plan a topic for your paper so at the end it doesn't seem as daunting. She always has a kind word for everyone. Would recommend!

What a great experience it was taking a class with her. It's very rare to find a teacher who can hold the interest of an entire class with such enthusiasm. Everyone seemed to love her and she always gave positive feedback. Highly recommended and there's only one paper for the class (intimidating, but you get to pick the topic and have fun).

Prof Patterson is a really nice woman and means well, but the class is so dry and her grading and tests are tough. Sophomores you don't have to "beware." I'm a sophomore and took this concurrently with HU 221; I received a B in 404 with moderate effort. Go to class and take a lot of notes because it will help you for the midterm and final.

Like other reviewers have said, Patterson is a nice lady and really enthusiastic about teaching...and obviously intelligent...but her lectures just hit me as a little dull. I would often find my mind wandering during class. Maybe because I am not yet used to English classes with all lecturing and no discussion.

Prof. Patterson is always cheerful and very willing to help you! Her exams are sometimes absurdly difficult and paper grading (which she has her own unique system for) is demanding. Still, I'd recommend her because she explains difficult concepts well. Sophomores beware-EN 404 is NOT easy and should be taken after EN 323.
