Professor Stein is an incredible lecturer. Very rigorous and thorough. Has a strong speaking voice, so you can't fall asleep in class here. Uses a projector with transparencies, so lectures are quite long. Linear Algebra can be confusing, but he really makes you understand the concepts.

DO THE HOMEWORK! He gives a lot of partial credit, so as long as you know a little about the topic, you can get a solid B. 70% is an A, so the class is hard, but it's not impossible to get an A. Just take the time to study, and go to class because he explains topics much better than the book ever will.

I took him in Fall and he was great. I am not a proofs person (and hate them), yet he made the material crystal clear! He is a genius: sits criss-cross while writing proofs off the top of his head! For once, I didn't feel stupid in a proofs class. Take him! He is the best.

Lots of partial credit on exams. No graded homework. 70% is an A. There are 4 exams, 3 midterms and a final. Two grading methods. A) Each exam is 25%. B) Your lowest midterm is 10%, remaining exams are 30%/ea (whichever is higher). In other words, VERY EASY GRADING! Material is hard! DO HOMEWORK! There's not a lot. First exam is hardest. Ace it!

Mr. Stein is a cool professor he grades fairly and counts the lowest score of 4 tests as 10% of the grade. There are no quizzes or homework that is collected so the grade is based on tests.

Quite possibly the best professor I've had. Professor Stein is a passionate man and really gets that across in his teaching. I had him for Calculus 3 (which deals with multivariables and 3 dimensions) and he explains it very well. Highly recommended. P.s. 70 is an A, 60 is a B, 50 is a C

I have mixed feelings about Stein. He's REALLY smart and nice...but extremely hard. A score of 50/100 on midterms were an A and 30/100 = C. There were people who got 80% and 90% but average was around 40%. If you're REALLY good at proofs as well as theoretical math, you'll really like him. If not, take Watson when he teaches the class.

His lectures are funny and he tries to keep people interested. The only tricky thing about his tests are his "curveballs". There is usually one question that he hasn't really gone over in class. However, everything else on his tests are usually from his lecture. The online portion is complete bs and doesn't do much. He curves majorly...a 70 is an A

I absolutely loved this class! The professor is enthusiastic and funny. He was able to explain concepts clearly. He is very generous on curving the tests. The textbook is not mandatory but there are problems on the test straight out of the book that he had assigned. I honestly didn't use the book that often, but I attended every class and have an A

One of my best math teachers. He is very helpful and explains material well. All test problems are clones of homework problems so nothing is surprising if you do your homework. Activity sessions are super helpful because he does whatever homework problems you ask him too, which helps you alot for the test.

Quiet possibly the worst professor I've ever had. Be warned if you aren't a mathematical genius you will fail his course, his lectures are confusing, fast, and sloppy. The activity sections aren't useless being that he doesn't completely answer questions. He's self centered and unwilling to help. The only thing positive is he's a Dodger fan.

Excellent professor! Presents the material very well, and makes it interesting. You'll laugh a lot, and he makes the class fun! However, his exams are sooooo hard, that 50 is an A! Most people get mid 30's. I would gladly take again!

Dr. Stein is the best prof I've ever had,I wish he teaches all my math classes. The material is hard and abstract but he does his best to make it as clear &concrete as possible. Not having a text is not bad,he'll give you thorough organized proofs better than any text.He is a GENIUS. taping lectures is vry helpful.U'll enjoy his lectures.Recomndd!!

What a great teacher! One of the hardest things about math teachers is that they suck at explaining how to do things to you; but not this guy. He is so good at teaching math. Plus, he gives out lots of points for work you do on problems even if you don't get the correct answer. Great professor, I'd take him again.

Go to class and take notes, and study the assigned problems. He does throw a problem or two on each exam not relevant to exact hw problems, but will mention this stuff in class prior to test, so go to class and you'll be fine.

His class is ok, lectures are sometimes tedious, but sometimes funny because of his age (watch him drink his water its funny). Tests are a bit tricky, but they are "clones" of hw problems which are optional. Activity was all about asking questions. Huge curve, 70>A 60>B etc. but material is hard, and he goes a bit fast.

One of the best math teachers I've ever had- the best at CSULB anyway. Tells you exactly what is going to be on the test. Some curve balls, but if you attend class and do the homework, you should be fine. A 70 is an A (due to the mini curve balls), but people generally do okay. I recommend taking him. If you write slow, don't. He goes fast in class

Dr. Stein is a really good teacher in my opinion. There are about four tests each semester; that's including the final as well. his three midterms are based on the study guide that he posts up on beachboard. the class is not too appealing, but it is not hard at all.
