Great professor. She gave a decent amount of work, but nothing ridiculous. Class participation is a big part of the class so it's not all lecturing. She likes to leave it to the students to lead the discussion, but does a good job of pointing us in the right direction without dominating class discussion herself. Very helpful and approachable.

Sweet intelligent woman, a reasonable amount of work compared to some literature classes. Soft spoken which can make it a challenge to follow the discussions. Slow moving at times, but is helpful and willing to clarify points of confusion.

I don't see why people are putting her down, because I love her teaching skills. Though sometimes the discussion may get boring, Prof. H is very knowledgeable of the material and is highly intellectual. She is a fair grader and a very pleasant person, so what's not to like??

A ton of people in my class disliked Prof Higgins, but if you do what's expected of you and can stand a boring required class, you should be fine with her. Just be prepared to endure many confusing class discussions.
