John was a very easy going guy. His methods were somewhat unorthodox but effective. He ran a very democratic classroom; he allowed students to chose their own evaluation methods. I learned a great deal from his class. He provided a creative, open atmosphere, allowed for the process to develop for each writer uniquely, and moved on from there.

John is very easy going personally but very intense in his teaching and for his students success. He develops a very open atmosphere involving everyone with everyone else in a fun, exciting space where we help each other become better writers. Very fair grading policy. The best teacher I've ever had!
