Inspirational. It's been years since I took a class with her, but I still think of her often. She's a true philosopher and a beautiful human being. Her rigorous engagement with the classical authors has given her a rare nobility of mind. Even if her strength of character can be slightly harsh at times, we continue to love and admire her.

Ann expects a lot, and if you slack she won't be your friend. But if you show that you're putting work into the class, she'll warm up to you. Don't take a class just to take it, though. If you're not obsessive about the material the way she is, you'll have a hard time. She makes some great jokes, too.

Ann is one of the best teachers I've had. Her classes will kick your ass, though. Don't take them unless you have a high interest in exactly what she is planning to teach. Otherwise, you'll end up not putting as much into it and you'll waste your time and hers. If you love renaissance lit though, there's no one better. Her passion will win you over

Super helpful, super intelligent and open-minded; definitely take a class with Ann if you like renaissance/medieval lit and other old things/ have an interest in poetry and the origins of poetry. She is extremely easy to talk to and has a great sense of humor, as well as a genuine interest in her students.

Ann doesn't make class or conference easy, but goes above and beyond to make sure you get the best understanding of and interest in the texts you study. She's incredibly knowledgeable, both as a professor and a don. I couldn't imagine my first year at SLC without her!

Very, very helpful and insightful. She cares for her students, on a personal and a professional level. She helps you achieve realistic goals and always seems to push you a little further than you initially thought you would be able to go. I absolutely love her and consider myself very lucky to have had her as a professor and don!

Ann is tough, she whipped me into shape in her FYS. Discussions were fun, the material fun, conference work was awesome, she's great in her field. As a don she's alright, i'm more into the creative arts side of things at SLC and would say she's not the most helpful if that's your thing. still, a great professor.

As my don for four nearly unbearable years (only brightened by some other, more caring professors), I have a real beef against Ann for not recognizing that I was in the middle of a severe depression. She saw me every week my freshman year. I was indecisive on everything and even broke into tears one day after class. Totally useless.

Ann is amazing. Always incredibly helpful and knowledgeable beyond belief, she had a lot to offer to tried and true poets as well as novices in the area. The discussion never lagged which is pretty amazing considering the course was at 9 o'clock. She expects a high quality of work but honestly shouldn't everyone at this school?

Ann's lecture was the hardest class I took at SLC. My suggestion is not to take any course of hers in which you have only some or mild interest. She's great for people who eat and breath renaissance and medieval European literature-- if you lean towards contemporary and abstarct writing and literature, Ann's probably not a good match.

Ann made the material come alive. She has a great sense of humor, except when it comes to correct comma usage! She's an amazing teacher. She'll push you, but only as far as needed. If you have problems, she'll help you, but she wants to see you stand on your own two feet and think for yourself.
