Definitely wouldn't recommend for non-music majors, but music majors are required to take her. She's passionate and knows her stuff but most don't find the subject interesting. The only grades are the four tests, which you NEED to study for. Buying the expensive book would be a waste of money.

Dr. Silverberg is awesome!! It can be boring, so be sure you make it interesting. She knows her stuff. You almost never use the book. Make sure you take notes because that will be all you need.

Dont waste your time buying a book for this class because it isnt needed. All she does is write A LOT of notes on the overhead throughout class and the students are supposed to copy them. She's really nutty and weird... shouldnt be your first choice.

Weird teacher. She has an extreme passion for what she does, but only teaches what she likes and skips from Jazz to Baroque periods. Odd Teacher and odd tests. Tests and quizes (T&Q r multiple choice) make ur grade- hard tests bc there can be more than a few diff answers. Not too easy for an A but easy B.

Passionate about her subject. Very nice! Her lectures can be confusing, but if you actually pay attention she's not so hard to follow. Leave plenty of room in the margins for extra notes and listen to your CDs. I never saw anything on a test that she did not cover in lecture, and she usually types it all on the overhead so it's hard to miss.

If you are not a music major, avoid her. I am positive she is up to par on her subject but she is very boring and unorganized in her notes. She types her notes on the overhead as the class goes on...but will go back through and add information. If you are writing the notes, forget it! Take someone else! Does not rely on the book at all!!

I think that Dr. Silverburg is a great teacher. She loves music and she's very quirky. She gets excited, which is funny, and though the notes are a little sporadic, they really do help. A quick side note: I never used the book, only her notes and I got A's.

Not a good teacher. Class was very unclear even if you are a good notetaker. She gets off subject and kind of freaks you out at times. Class is boring and the tests have things that have not been covered in class. Do Not Take Her!

She does great test prep stuff...she gives her essay questions a week ahead of the test so you jsut have to memorize them. And it is easy to take notes in class because she types all of her notes as she lectures on the powerpoint screen.

AWESOME teacher. Very passionate about the material and ridiculously smart. All her notes are straight from her brain. Only complaint I have is that she skips around in her notes a lot, making it difficult to follow. Great teacher.

Awsome teacher! She is so funny, and always cracking jokes. Although the class was at 8:00, and the class, itself, was boring, most of the time she made it interesting. Very passionate about music, and incredibly intellegent. She know's almost everything about music. If you can take her, do it!
