She may get a bad reputation because she requires you to work hard. However, this is a college course and that should be important to you if you are attending college course. She is a very fair grader she knows if you put work into your assignments. Her content is very interesting. I found her stimulating.

Such a great teacher! Very nice, can be a tough grader but thats's only because she wants you to do your best and will let you do revisions. She is very nice, can be very funny with her dry humor, always smiling, willing to help! I would def take her again :) Great person in general!!!

One of the smartest teachers I have ever come across. Apparently she was on Jeopardy, so that's cool. Had a fantastic Irish dry sense of humour. Would strongly reccomend her. There is a lot of writing but it's mostly opinionated rather than contextual.

There are about three 3 page papers due throughout the semester based on readings and class discussions. She includes both group readings and required readings. There is also a final 10 page paper on an ethical issue of your choice in the book, and an group oral presentation on a group members topic. She grades very easy if you are know how to writ

Prof. Halligan is an excellent teacher. Some people do not like her because she won't tolerate laziness or people who don't attend class. If you want a teacher who will actually challenge you, then you she is your woman. If you want someone to spoon feed you information then you should look elsewhere.

Watch out for this one; tricky! I did NOT like her. She is a surprisingly easy grader once you do the demanding amount of work, but she makes you feel as though she is smarter than you and her opinions are correct. Attendance and punctuality are ESSENTIAL to this one. Also if you're not a fan of Ethics as a topic I'd consider a different professor.

She is a good prof. and if you do the work then everything will be good. It is not a hard class to take and there is no too much work to be done, a few reading and essays and 1 big presentation group or single. I loved it she is funny and opinionated. she can come off as harsh but inly when the people aren't doing thier work

Mrs. Halligan is extremely knowledgeable, she is a water fountain of information, her syllabus is a little heavy and there are a lot of papers but it is kind of expected, I would recommend her to other students!

Her lectures the 1st week on linguistic history were really interesting. After that everything went downhill. Her assignments/instructions are unclear, she focuses on contemporary ethical issues but to write a good paper you have to share her opinion, and she singles out students in front of the class. Overall, smart but unpredictable.

This woman is obnoxious. Sharp cookie, but makes it clear that her sociopolitical opinions are superior so you'd better cover topics from perspectives she approves of if you want a decent grade.

Brilliantly intelligent woman and ultimately very compassionate toward her students, but in action I found her to be pompous, erratic, and melodramatic. She makes everything into a big production despite pathetically easy grading. Too much drama there. I would never take a course with her again.

6-8 short papers,an 8pg research paper, an oral presentation and a Shakepeare reading to do.Prof. Halligan is one very smart,a bit quirky, and opinionated lady. Interesting class and one of my favorites so far at Broome. She shook our hands on the last day of class and told us that it was our job to make the world better. Cares about her students.

A very articulate and intriguing woman. She can substantially argue her points and opinions without resorting to her authority as a professor. Class work is somewhat demanding, but as long as you love the Irish she'll love you.
