This was the worst class I took in first year. You're forced to do long pointless readings, watch online lecture videos, the prof continues to lecture in class and attend tutorials but none of these things connect and none of them make any sense. Also are placed in a group and 70% of your mark is group based. 5% is lost per seminar missed.

Group work heavy and a blended learning style which wasn't personally my cup of tea. There was a lot of work in this course, the tutorials were pointless and "lectures" were all group work. Lots of reading and too many video lectures. If you skip class you will fail as you lose 5% of your grade for each class skipped.

Difficult, with very high expectations. Truly wants her students to succeed and dedicated to her teaching. She is clearly very passionate. Just do ALL of the readings and watch ALL of the videos... or your mark will reflect it

Geography 101 has a heavy course load for a first year elective. That being said, Dr. Godlewska is great at making it interesting. When people didn't do well on the midterm, she adjusted everyone's marks. Your success in this course will more determined more by which TA you get as there is huge discrepancy in TA marking.

Mandatory Top Hat. Constant group work. Huge amount of weekly reading/online lectures to absorb. Prof very serious and rigid, which is both impressive and unfortunate. Did not seem like a first-year course.

She was okay. It's a blended learning class, so the lectures are more like group work sessions. Well organized and paced. If you have good research skills you will do well, and if not probably not. She has a lot of students and did seem to care. The TA's not so much. Her online lectures are boring and so are the readings.

Textbook you don't need ($). TopHat membership ($) only used for class attendance. Class and TAs disconnected from actual Geography issues and content.. Professor who invites you to protests via email and has immense biases. I cannot believe I used student loans on this course. Regrets.

GPHY 101 was a trash course in the Fall 2015 semester. Little learning actually happened. - Online pre-recorded lectures - Pre-assigned groups of 8 with no peer evaluation (5/8 of my group members did nothing) - 40 % final poster which is entirely BS - TA's mark inconsistently between each other (luck factor) - Minus 5%/session skipped

Anne was an amazing professor. I did not like the format in which GPHY101 was presented, but Anne made it worth it. She clearly loved what she taught and wanted her students to excel, and took the time to make connections with students. If you email her with questions, she will answer with a thorough response. She is a wonderful professor.

While the overall coursework in the class was pretty easy, she made a minimal effort to actually teach the class; furthermore, at least in my experience with her, she was not very understanding to missed course work--even with extenuating circumstances, that most teachers would usually accept. She also came off as very rude in out E-mails.

Anne is such an amazing prof. She gave very useful feedback and always makes you feel comfortable in her class. Very friendly and communicates well with her students. I wasn't a fan of the way in which this class was set up. It was almost all online work and primarily group projects that dragged down my mark.

She's a good professor. Her teaching style is good, though she says so much you often can't keep up when writing notes. The problem is the course structure - there are technological mishaps that make clickers unfair, the readings are extremely, extremely difficult, and the group assignments bring down marks by a lot. Im dropping geo because of this

It was a huge honour to have her as a prof. Topics were definitely relevant and engaging. Her lectures, althought read from a script, are tested, true, and strong. She cares about students issues and the way we learn. She's accomodating. Personally, she piqued my interested in geography, and I'll probably major in it because of her. Excellent prof.

One of my best profs in my 4 years at Queen's. She taught topics that mattered. She was interesting and enthusiastic. She really cared about the students. She sent a letter to my parents to tell them how well I had done in the class.
