Madame HD is hilarious and the class is really enjoyable if you don't mind being put on the spot every now and then. She really focuses on pronunciation so I think my French improved a great deal. Also if you go to the French centre on certain days and watch a French film they will give you TWO passport activity stamps so keep that in mind.

Her class is not for everyone, but you will undoubtedly learn something! She is hard on her students, but I found myself enjoying the challenge towards the end of the semester. With that said - you NEED to dedicate the time to study everyday, or else it will show in your grades.

AMHD is hilarious! participation is important. If you listen and take notes on the things she does on the board and study what she tells you too, you'll have a fair chance on the tests. Tests are a little tricky but no surprises. If you're not french immersion it won't be an easy A, but putting in work and actually learning the material will help.

Requirements: - Thick Skin (Everyone must participate) - Ability to think quickly (Mistakes are punished publicly) - Dedication to attendance (Reprimanded publicly) - French background Her class is not for beginners. Class was tougher than my others combined. The homework is where you learn. The classroom is where you speak french.

She's honestly a good teacher. I like how she calls on everyone to participate, it only makes you better. I was a bit unsure and nervous about the course at first, but ended up enjoying it. I like her sense of humour too!

I'm not a big fan of her teaching style where she calls on students to answer questions, but she's still a nice lady and I learned a lot in her class. Her exams are tough but fair, as expected from an intermediate level foreign language class. You can make up for the tough exams with plenty of opportunities for "free marks" (eg attendance).

AMHD was a great prof! She is super enthusiastic and direct with her questions, and is super funny! She cracks a lot of jokes, and a lot of them tend to reside with you, so it's easy to memorize the important bits! Just actually attend lecture and go to the French Center, because this is when you will receive the most feedback ^^ I loved FREN213 (:

AMHD is a really good prof.. If you put in the effort to learn the language. She is known to make fun of students who don't put in effort or struggle with the language, but it is just motivation to improve your abilities.

If you have a class right after Anne- Marie's, you will definitely be late for it. I consistently late for all my labs because she keeps our class late and often wastes time in class leaving 10 minutes for a dictee or another form of in class assignment. She doesn't teach, classes consist of people being called out individually to speak french...

She will call on you in class to speak which might be a bonus or fear to some (I didn't necessarily like it). Tests are not overly hard, but sort of challenging. Textbook is a must! And recommended to do the workbook. Very funny prof and understanding.

AM-HD spends most of the class speaking in very fast French. This is good for francophones and French immersion students, but unhelpful to students actually trying to learn French.

Madame Hallworth is a caring and hilarious teacher! She cares about all of her students but makes everyone participate each class, which can be intimidating. However, she's really nice, so don't be too scared! She grades very easily, but tests can be hard since she does not focus on written French skills, so practice beforehand!

Mme Duez is very clear on her expectations in class: read in advance, pay attention, practice verbs. Her classes are interesting and engaging. She has been teaching this class for quite some time and I would strongly recommend to chose her over for this last intro class.

She is hilarious, she tells personal stories and sings for you and is just a lot of fun. Her tests are very fair and moderately difficult but even one evening of studying before will be enough. She speaks a lot in French during her lectures, which is scary at first, but then you get used to it after a bit. She really wants her students to do well.

This professor is alright. While her French is impeccable her method of teaching it leaves much to be desired. Focuses too much on class participation as opposed to actually teaching French. Suffering through anglophone accents trying to read and speak French out loud at times is unbearable! Would rather she focus on grammar! Tends to mock people.

Anne-Marie is a great prof. Some people don't like her because she expects you to pay attention in class and answer questions, so you'd better get over being shy if you are. If you don't pay attention, or you don't TRY in her class, she is not scared to make her disappointment known. She is, however, a super sweet lady and a great person to talk to

I personally love her, but if you don't have thick skin don't take this class. She teaches well but forces you to answer her questions, and you can't be offended when she criticizes you. I thought she was a great prof, but you either adore her and get her teaching style or you don't. Ultimately a sweet and entertaining person deep down.

Class was HARD, but I was definitely not prepared. She has this really sweet vibe and wants you to succeed(when I didn't do well on quizzes she used to yell STUUUUUDDDYY in her accent which was hilarious). Textbook is mandatory. Good class, but the B in this class took me more effort than my four other A's combined.

AMAZING! This was the best class I have ever taken. Madame made French interesting and entertaining. She never failed to make me laugh each class. Her singing was a treat! Textbook is necessary for the class and a willingness to speak, not necessarily in French. My French speaking improved a lot from this class.
